I'm hacking away at a translation of Liberi Fatali, But i'm getting quite confounded. Who9 knew i'd actually want to USE Latin knowledge one of these days, so i'm looking for people to consult in my quest, and hopefully eventually get a full translation done up. anyone interested and adequately knowledgable?

L I B E R I F A T A L I

Latin

Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec

Excitate vos e somno, liberi mei
Cunae non sunt
Excitate vos e somno, liberi fatali
Somnus non eat.

Surgite
Inventite hortum veritatis

Ardente veritate
Urite mala mundi
Ardente veritate
Incendite tenebras mundi

Valete, liberi
Diebus fatalibus

Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec

English

Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec

Awaken yourselves from sleep, my children.
This is not a cradle.
Awaken yourselves from sleep, fated children.
Sleep does not advance.

Rise up.
Seek in the garden of truth.

Burning with the fires of truth
Sear with flame the darkness of the world.
Burning with the fires of truth
Kindle to ash the evil of the spirit.

Be strong, children,
on that fated day.

Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec

Thanks, that confirms a lot of what i had already. Though, i still wonder what is with the seemingly random Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec? I din't think it's Latin, there would be no W in wecos, and Vinosec would be pronounced Winosec (V=W in traditional latin), if anyone knows if theres an actual translation or Meaning to that, i'd appreciate it.

Hrpmf. Sorry, I've looked all over the place, but this is all I could up with : "According to several Japanese Webpages, some of which reference gaming magazines, "fithos lusec wecos vinosec" is an anagram of "succession of witches" with the word "love" left over."

That's from a website, I don't remember the name of it. So I don't think that those words are actually latin. They do sound like it though, don't they? Anyways-sorry, hope that was of some use.

You're correct -
While most of the lyrics to Liberi Fatali are Latin, the words Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec are nonsense words made up by composer Nobuo Uematsu as an anagram for "succession of witches" and "love." The composer says so in the linear notes which come with the FF8 soundtrack. :)

FINALLY. I was beggining to go insane trying to find roots for all that, especially because Lusec is quite close to the latin for Light, and Fithos I swear is the third principal for something...
