Have you ever been named after a city, or had a city named after you? How can anyone tell the difference? The great Italian Rennaissance composer Giovanni de Palestrina shares a name with the town of Palestrina where he lived, yet nobody really knows if he was named after the city or if the city was named after him. International man of mystery, I say!

Have I ever been named after a city? No, for all the times I've been named I've never been named after a city. Though my middle name, Jean, is a town just across the Nevada border, and I'm sure there are other Jean's.

There is (or was) a road in Cork with my surname...but that's about it.

Ouch!

I run into many roads with my last name, and there's always that beer that always wins all those awards and flaunt it in their advertisements along with their low carb count and stuff like that.

Oh yeah, it's Miller time.

As long as we are tlaking about last names, my cousins Tim Moore, David Moore, Peter Moore are not related to Micheal Moore or Richard Moore as far as I know. (Richard more is a drunk detective in "Case Closed")

Farah is a city in Afghanistan, but I don't think our family name came from the city, seeing as we have no afghani in us.

My second name "Van der Merwe" means By the Merwe in dutch. The Merwe being a river somewhere. A dutch w is pronounced like a v btw. I dont actualy know how to pronounce it. This my freinds flemmish parent could. It had some elongated d (dont ask me where that came from) that I cant pronounce. :/

Ditto about the middle name.

And I'm pretty sure there's a place in southern California called Santa Paula. :D I should buy a house there someday.

Plus, Mapquest says there's a place called Paula Heights, TN. And Paulas Corners, NJ. *shrug* =0
