Nation: Serenity
Government: Democracy
Leader: Minister Devin, though an official President will elected when enough citizens can vote.
Capital: New Amani
Religion: All are welcome to be practiced but none are the official religion.
Entrance: Currently, all are allowed. If you announce your arrival beforehand, you can be escorted into the capital if you want to.
Exit: Same as above.

Laws: I posted them before, so I'll copy them again (If current technology isn't available, laws will be adjusted):

Actually attempting to get all citizens to vote, so that the actual majority will be heard. At the same time however, a free press, one completed uninvolved with any form of government so that the citizens can receive unbaised news and reports. Besides that, a universal healthcare system, a volunteer army used only to defend ones home but never for globalization, colonies, and the like, a fairly open trade market, though somewhat restricted to prevent complete monopolies, a well funded education system, as well as research system to continually push forward progress.

A very progressive tax system hoping to give money from those who have it in abundance to those who might be struggling. At the same time, two very important additions to this system would include: a security system for those who do make money so that they won't have to worry about losing everything they have so long as they pay their taxes into the system, and also a very determined social works committee who will continually push for jobs for those who don't have it, improved living conditions and the like.

As for the taxes themselves, there would NEVER be any sort of shrine or monument building as to me, it is seen as a waste of money and also a way of pushing one's superiority over others. Instead, taxes would be devoted entirely back to the people. Bonuses for bosses of companies and leaders of office would be prohibited because it would be expected that they'd be doing the best they can from the start.

An open debate for the citizens to voice their opinion and allow for actual interaction between everyone. There wouldn't be any classified information unless it is utterly needed, for instance, if there is clear evidence of conspiracy or corruption. If anyone in power is found to have committed perjury of any kind, they must be expected to resign based upon a vote by the citizens.

Finally, freedom of speech, religion, and assembly within reason. Any assembly used to promote hate, a la` the KKK is not tolerated. Guns are outlawed unless needed in times of war. Sports and other outdoor activity is encouraged as well as travel to meet new people and broaden one's horizons. There will be no death penalty, but those who commit acts of murder, genocide, rape and those of harsh nature will be locked away, to watch home movies of the people who's lives they've ruined or ended. If they can prove that they can function as a human being, they may be paroled, but if they are caught attempting another crime of the same nature, they will be locked away forever with no chance at parole.

That being said, cops, doctors, teachers, wardens, firefighters, scientists and the like will make the highest salaries, whilst other occupations such as actors, athletes, singers and the like won't be paid such insanely high amounts for jobs that while, yes are very important, do not effect as many directly.

Since my art programs aren't working, I'll just describe where the capital is located:

To the east of the giant mountain range, right on the water, a little above where the water trade route to Region 10 is. When my programs are working again, I'll actually post the location and attempt to create a flag.

Take care all. I hope all the leaders and potential citizens of Eizon are getting along smoothly.

On that singer-actor thing.

The ridiculously high salaries that modern artists charge is because they're famous, they're a product rather than a service, and they can be spread around in the form of tunes and music, if not going to recordings.
There ARE low-paid artists and amusers - wedding-bands, and so forth, who play the music of others aren't paid that well. They're more like doctors than the higher-paying artists - who are more like pharmaceutical companies.

But athletes are a waste of time. *_*

You're regulating salaries? Seems like quite the idealistic haven, otherwise.

*prods you for a map* :D

Ah, perhaps I should have been clearer on that point.

At the moment, the salaries will be given out by the government obviously until actual corperations and businesses start where they can afford to pay the salaries themselves. Once these businesses spring up, a regulation committee will be formed completely independent of the government or big business in order to keep them in check as well.

Take care all.

I see - Metareason Inc. doesn't exist because apparently "big business" doesn't exist yet. So you're safe for now. ;)

I'm very interested as to how exactly a society will get up and running under the current conditions, especially if we're folk from the 21th century sent back to the Dark Ages, but perhaps that's part of the fun.

Take care all.

We had quite some debates on this.

MY take is that it is not possible to create nations out of thin air, even if the people come from medieval tech level worlds, as is the case. The domestication of plants and animals takes a helluva lot time, and the infrastructure!

Oh, and it's pretty official that the people are from Medieval-level tech worlds - even though I take the view that the other races have more sophisticated political systems, like democracy, due to their divergent histories and stuff like that.

Oh, and BoB said I could play the game like it'd be a few hundred years after the Rift - the transportation of the races upon Eizon, as I call it - and I'm going to do exactly that. You can see the debates in older threads in this forum.

That makes things SO MUCH EASIER.

hiya mate your region+mine are joined across the sea by a blue line?????

The Captain

Indeed, they are, which means we share a tarde route. Perhaps we can devise some form of trade agreement in the near future?

Take care all.

If Nait's trade routes sat intact, we can probably still deal in some way or another. If, and when we eventually get this all up and running, you'll have my full support to trade with Serenity. Hopefully, I can get a Navy up to protect any cargo that might be coming into and out of the area. How's that sound?

Take care all.

I've left searoutes between your countries, over the Strait of Serenity to the coast of Neifelheim, eastwards to Aztopia and Canterburry.

EDIT:

not that I claim authorita, but it seemed right that way.

Still, Nait, those routes make a good deal of sense, unless the ships and technology we possess make it too difficult to travel those long distances. In fact... that gives me another question to ask in the other thread!

Sidenote: I'd imagine if this takes off, then there will be routes all over the world, so you'd be correct in your initial map anyway.

Take care all.

The Vikings traveled to Konstantinopolis and back with the most basic of equipment - mostly because they followed the coast-line, which offers easy support. And they travelled over the North Atlantic, so I don't believe there will be so much outcry over my, imho, rather conservative estimates of sea-routes.

Say, does the "Eizon Nation Leader" color title change every day?

Take care all.

No, just until people stop fooling around with cheap rainbow effects. :D
It should remain pale green from now on.

"Greetings Minister Neel,

I am most honored and pleased to hear that you would consider an alliance with us kindly folk here in Serenity. I can honestly tell you we'd be delighted to join in your agreement and hope that this is the start of a long-lasting friendship between our nations.

Serenity is still currently in a state of transition as citizens are moving both to the capital city of New Amani and to the smaller cities and provinces all over the region. I'll surely send notice of your request to the appropriate people and gather up all the responses to be sent back ASAP.

Writing as the Acting Prime Minister of the moment, I can tell you that right now, we as a nation are also hoping to foster good will throughtout Eizon and are very interested in possible treaties for the economy and education. Within Serenity, we also have a University within New Amani, but would be very interested in a possible student exchange program. Though our studies at the moment are somewhat, "middle aged", we hope that we can progress with the help and wisdom of others.

We are also ambitiously pushing forward a progressive program to find energy sources that will not deplete the land of resource and have come to the conclusion that water power, possibly fueled with some sort of dam and mill might do the trick. We our currently building up a Navy to protect our harbors and also to help navigate the coast in order to allow trade ships to reach their destinations safely. Finally, at a recent city meeting, the people of Serenity began to construct a Civil Consititution to govern the lives of the citizens, so hopefully things are looking up here as well.

Once again, thank you so much for you consideration and we'd be delighted to negotiate. Hope all is well and that this reaches you with speed.

Yours Truly, Respectfully And Sincerely,

PM Devin T.
Acting Prime Minister
New Amani, Serenity"

Serenity, of course stands for a place to escape fear, while Amani is South African for Peace and Hope.

Take care all.

I hereby join The Captain's crew, and suggest you all do the same, making this my first and last post ever in this forum. You guys play nice!

Firstly, I'd like to say I feel much safer now that I have a real tried and true Enforcer. Thank you kindly Del for considering us.

PoD, I'd certainly be interested in a larger exchange program, as always. With all of our cities growing, hopefully this will lead to an even wider range of possible routes and exchanges between our regions and other regions within Eizon.

Take care all.

It seems Psy has taken my WORLDCON idea. Check his thread.

Wow, we've already begun to monopolize Eizon! Excellent. The real questions will now begin to spring up, such as, who will have the best region to create a navy, or perhaps defense against one?

Take care all.

Been very busy lately, but I have a little time so I'll add a small update.

Seems there is a new town, Ysses, that has sprung up in the northern section of Serenity. At the moment, Ysses has become active in the timber market and has been actively trading goods to New Amani, which has greatly boosted the economy of the region.

In an attempt to protect the trade routes from Ysses to New Amani, and because I believe we are now allowed to do so, a small Fort has been posted right in between the two cities. Though a small outpost, Fort Harrison has successfully protected the routes thus far and hopefully as trade continues to flourish, more troops can be sent to cycle out the old ones.

Maps to follow soon.

Take care all.
