What is the biggest purchase you have ever made using only coins and change? For me, it was a $6 movie ticket three years ago. I felt kinda bad for the guy, but I mean, money is money, right? I only used quarters to make it better. Now I carry around change to pay the odd cents, but not a whole purchase...

I don't think my last two [threads] were pointless either. It hurts.

edit: I bet I know who changed the title...

edit edit: I bet you don't, because it wasn't me. :D ~Proto Man

edit edit edit: It was me, RSL.

In Canada, there are 1$ and 2$ coins, which leads to many purchases being made with loonies and toonies. Personally I've purchased a 25 dollar quantity of a particular item using only quarters and the dude was flipping out exuberantly.

I very rarely spend my change. I usually accumulate a whole bunch of it in my pockets and then dump them in a pile at the end of the day. My change pile is getting pretty big, I should count it sometime.

I rarely use my change. I throw it in a pepsi bottle bank thinger at the end of each day. It's about 3 feet high, and the bottle is about 1/3 full.

I paid for an 8 dollar parking pass at the University of Alberta, all with change. The bastards are charging 10 dollars per day next year for parking. What else could they possibly do to exploit us poor students?

You'll regret selling those games in a few years from now.

In answer to the thread - no. I don't recall ever buying anything with small change. There's a machine at my local supermarket which takes my pennies and gives me pounds, so I never need to worry about using my small change.

I only did it when I was a little kid, when I couldn't get a hold of the green stuff too easily. I don't remember what I bought, but I know that it was about 12 dollars or so, all in quarters, nickles, and dimes. Yeah, I was a pain.

I brought a pair of shoes in silver change, as a joke of course. Joke was on my when I had proved my counting crappy, because the shirt cost 22.55 and I had about 21.40, and that was after scrounging.

I honestly don't remember. I know I've paid with a small bucket of change before, but I couldn't tell you what or when.

Ashley paid for her McDonald's in quarters on our way ot Vegas last month though. It's cause her and Kim had like all their money in quarters. xD

In Denmark it's not like in the USA where you only have coins for the small amounts. Here the largest amount of money put in to a coin is 20 kr. which is around 3,33 dollars. The smallest ones is of course what we call "øre" (Cents). Anyway, here in Denmark we use coins a lot and therefore I've purchased many expensive things by only using coins.

My biggest was probably $32, buying 2 new dress shirts at Ross. Good thing I was the last person in line. Other than that, $45 is the largest I deposited in coins, but I put them all in coin wrappers.

My good pal has 5 of those and all of 'em are full. He wins0rs.

I usually only use coins for the arcade. In Canada, I spent a good 7-8 dollars on DDR. Hey. It was during a lunch break on our French trip and I didn't feel like eating lunch.

Well I come from the Land of Change, England, so buying things with coins isnt a big thing. What I do like though is standing by a hot drinks machine in school with a queue of little people behind me while buying a drink using only 1p coins. Its only 20p but its fun if you do it slowly and try and hunt aronud for that last penny only to think you've lost it so you press the refund button. Then find it in your purse so you start putting them in then realise you have a 20p coin instead so you press the refund button and use that instead. Yeah, thats fun.
