Al Bhed treasure hunt

Hey fellow FF-ers.
I'm havin a little bit of a problem.
On the Mi'ihen High road after the Mi'ihen statue, there is a crumbling building (behind it you find an Ice Brand). Inside there is an Al Bhed message. It says something to the effect of "there is a valley in a large plain (the scar in the calm lands) with a thorn on the edge. look across to the other side" so i went to the calm lands and there is a little cut scene there at the thorn on the far north side, and then you examine the thorn, and another Al Bhed message pops up and tells you to put your back to the valley, and walk 49 steps then 7 right or something like that, and you arrive at one of those machina lookin things stuck in the ground. Examine that one, and it tells you "sixteen [steps] right, and four [steps] right." So i go the given distance, and you end up pretty much no where.
Has anybody else discovered this? if so, what do you get out of this, if anything at all? Am I doing this right even?

Any help would be appreciated.

yes, and you're close to figure it out on your own.
Anywho...
If you're wondering what the three Al Bhed Passwords are, they're:
VICTORIOUS
MURASAME
GODHAND
They must be inputted with capital letters into the airship password system.

Here's how to find the last hidden Al Bhed password :

With the Vale at your back go fortynine.
Then seven to the right in the truest line.

Now face south, which is opposite the vale. Do exactly as each instruction
tells you:

[A stone gives this clue]: Right sixteen and right four

[A stone gives this clue]: With me at your back go twenty, then twenty to the right.

[A circle gives this clue]: Continue on. Find me.

After that clue, go to the next circle. It's near the thorn.

Time for the password: GODHAND. A lot of work, but not too hard. Just
concentrate!
