Me and my freind were wondering about FF remakes and then we thought, what the hell Vivi would sound like? Any ideas?

Anything u want it 2 sound like. if they remake it they had better not have any voices...

why no voices? it would be great you could hear the gruffness in Baku's voice, and the sweet-sounding garnet voice

the sweet-sounding garnet voice

Or if she ended up sounding like a 80 year old life-time smoker.

In my mind, Vivi didn't have a voice. For some reason I just can't
picture him with one. I think he uses his magic to make a little box
above his head to display his thoughts.

at first i was arguing with myself over whether to hear his voice (in my head) as sounding like Orco, or like a little kid. i ended up with the child voice and i think it's the most correct voice to imagine. since he's like what...9?

i dont want a voice because...

1/ its part of the charm of RPGs for allow you to imagine the voice. i dont want there voice forced on me.

2/ i wouldnt care about the above if they would employ some fantastic voice actors. ffX was decent but i expect top quality. if they cant do that they should at least allow you the option to have the japanese voices, or to turn off the voices entirely.

i didnt think of having options like that. good idea.
and i would hope remakes would have well budgetted voicing too. X2 was clearly made with a little less pay for the voice actors. it's a shame there's parts of the game that are stupid because of it.

Haley Joel Osment could do it. His Sixth Sense voice semi-paranoia/semi-confusion would work for it.

hey thanks peeps. i have thought that ever since i was initally horrified by the ffX demo. its fair enough if they force voices, but its only fair to loyal fans if we could turn them off...right Square? :greenie:

being able to turn them off, brilliant. but then you could have subtitles VS word bubbles you have to press x through. X and X2 had voices with subtitles you could turn off. so what do you think of that? word bubbles to x through would seem classic, and subtitles to read would piss off slow readers. >_<

i cant imagine anyone who hates reading could like ff games. its ALL reading. but there should be voices for them who hate reading, and subtitles for those who like or love it and dont like voices.

Optium

I don't think they would even need to do the bubble really. Just have the
normal sub titles and take out the voices. They could still even play the
animation for the characters talking for all I care, this way it wouldn't take
away from any of the drama which comes with camera angles and facial
expressions which are becoming very important in the new FFs.

James Earl Jones would be the voice. Obviously.

to screw what i said before, it would make sense to have subtitles, voices turned off, seeing the animation, but then you press X to go through the subtitles and the animation will hold til you do. that may not be the greatest idea either but it's just another option i thought of.

i would be pretty pissed if a remake of IX didn't allow the option of turning off the voices.

Hell ya man, I don't think I'd EVER turn them on, I like the voices in my
head much more than I'd like the ones in the game and I'm sure of that.

He already did Sora, I don't think it'd be good if Vivi sounded like Sora. It'd be all wierd and stuff.

Nah. Haley Joel Osment sounds a little old to play VIvi. I think of his voice like a 7 year old's voice. A quiet one (Yes, they are out there...), but yeah, very young.

I knew vivi was young but i didnt know 7. Interesting........

Actually, chronologiaclly apeaking, I think he's like 3. But don't hold me to that. But he is VERY young.

well you're right in that he's probably only existed for a few years, but his person is like 9. i say 'like' pretty confidently though, im pretty sure people confirmed that was his "age".
another thing on his voice, having a child's voice would be right on, but if they actualy made him mispernounce things - id be pissed. id mute the friggin TV. in my head, Vivi has a soft child's voice, but hes a smart kid, thus speaks well and doesn't mispernounce anything like a human little kid might do.
if you really enjoy the story of the game you can tell Vivi "is" like 9 but he lives up to practicaly be an adult in his character. and i wouldn't say that's a spoiler, it's just how he lives. the other older people treat him very equal and never repress him in any way for his age. his maturity is that of an adult i should say.
and this basically explains my signature, Vivi is quite the emo kid. he doesn't scream or throw fits like other children, he just goes around being sad sometimes and doesn't bother anyone. and he's my favorite character of all FF

He should have Soundwave's voice.

I always imagined that he'd have, okay this could take a while *ahem*, you know in the episode of Sabrina The Teenage Witch when she takes her cousin, Amanda, to that private school in the mortal realm? You know the dog who was the P.E. teacher? Well if you do then I always imagined that Vivi would have his voice. I also imagined that Cid from Final Fantasy 7 would also have his voice too. And that Cait Sith would have Salem's voice. Heh.

I imagine sounding kinda like...maybe....Yu from FF:U.....or maybe something like Alphonse from FMA.

About the voices: I think some games should have voices and others shouldn't. Games like FF7, 8, and 9 are great without voices while FF10 and 10-2 were great with voices. I'm fine with the way things are. I think if they added voices to some games, it would take some of the fun away. I'd like to stick with the voices in my imagination :)
