Apperently when they release SNK Vs Capcom they'll make it an XBox exclusive, the refuse to make it for the PS2 because PS2 will not allow anymore 2D games. This for one makes me mad at SoA (Sony of America) and it saddens me that the last 2D fighter on PS2 will be either Guilty Gear Isuka or Capcom Fighting Evolution.

Anyway, discuss.

The only reason I would care is because I like the PS2 controller more than the xbox controller, but because I think xbox games have a tendency to be cheaper than PS2 games, I'll get over it.

SNK vs. Capcom: Chaos is already out on PS2 in Japan.

Yea, that's SoJ, I'm talking about SoA here.

I'm just sayin', that doesn't technically make it an XBox exclusive. :P

I don't see how Sony can stop developers making 2D games. Besides any game sold on the PS2 Sony make money, so why should they care if it's 2D or 3D.

Maybe they won't publish a 2D game, but there's always someone else who will.

But it's not like it's a great loss. SNK vs CAPCOM : Chaos, isn't upto much anyway. It's not as good as either King Of Fighters or CAPCOM vs SNK 2 imo.

What I did want released for the PS2 though was Street Fighter 3 : Third Strike, which is out in Japan for the PS2. But it's only getting a PAL release on the XBOX according to Capcom Europe. :(

The Street Fighter Anniversary Collection that's coming out for PS2 at the end of August/beginning of September is going to come along with some version of SF2, and it's going to come with Street Fighter 3: Third Strike both on the same DVD. I have it preordered. It's said to be a PERFECT arcade port of the game, with NO loading time except for some brief five second load at the very start of the game.

Yep Street Fighter Anniversary Collection is only being released on the XBOX in Europe. It comes with Hyper Street Fighter 2 and Street Fighter 3 : Third Strike. So no SF3 for me.

We PS2 owners just get Hyper Street Fighter 2. Which was released back in May. Kinda annoying but then Capcom are good at annoying us Euro gamers. :D

I wish all of these developers would quit bitching about 2D being bad compaired to 3D. Let me put it this was, there are actions and movements that a 2D sprite can do and look really awesome but if a 3D model did the same thing the it'd look totally lame.

SoA doesn't like 2D games for some reason, they wanna be graphics whores or something.

Yeah, they've always been really big on games that push the limits or at least heavily utilize the hardware. I'd assume that since the PS2 is so far along in its life cycle they're expecting developers to push the envelope with 3d graphics. Pretty dumb.

>>> So we probably wont have "The King of Fighters 2002 & 2003" and "Samurai Shodown V Special" for PS2. Curse You Sony America..

Can you post a link or something to where you got this info, Joel? It's kinda shocking that SoA would suddenlty go: 'OMG NO 2D!' It just doesn't make sense...

Well SoA's been trying to that for awhile. Anyway, I read an artcile somewhere on snk-capcom.com. I forgot which one it was but it's there, it also might be on other gaming news sites. Also it's official, on that site's news the creator of the Street Fighter Franchise is leaving Capcom, so no moree SF games. I think I lost the will to play games now.
