When i got here, I was confused. This place had a general-forum, artsey stuff, staff & site, and then the ff's.

I was like... " so where do i post my n00b topic now?" as the place was devoid of a newbie forum. =/ and so, well i asked bonnie, and she said to just make one in general. and so i did. and that was that. If i can recall correctly, it was either leeza or spiff that first replied to my thread. But anyways.

I didn't make a newbie thread. I hid in the Writer's Corner for at least three months. I was absolutely terrified of General Chat. I think the first post in GC I ever had was like a year after I joined. I just lurked in the Writer's Corner and the FFXI section during the good ole times when we had 5 threads all over 300 posts long for the linkshell we started. Good stuff.

LOL. I never made a newbie thread. I think my first post was winning a quote mini-contest in the FF8 forum, where you had to list the same phrase multiple times, each one worded how a particular character from the game would say it. Then, we had to guess who said what. I remember getting the hard one no one else could - something said in the tone of Julia, I think.
I believe the thing was run by Sorceress Faye. Wow - that's back when Rampala was still Faye, and now not too many people even remember her. . . I'm such an oldbie. :p

I'm not going to do the statistics, but it appears to me that most current members never made newbie threads. From this, we can deduce that newbie threads are for people who usually don't stick around, thus we can prohibit allowing noobs from creating these miserable, horrible, painful to read threads.

For the record, I did not create a newbie thread when I joined.

In fact, I'd rather see more of princeofdarknez's threads like "All Aboard the Pimpy Gimp" than these unholy newbie threads. If Jim Ross (Good Old JR) from the WWE were here, he would definitely say "This ain't right!" or "Oh my God! For the love of God, please stop!" in regards to the creation of newbie threads.
