i'd say the Olympic game Water polo is the closest thing on the planet to blitzball. before i thought it was soccer but that doesn't come close to this other sport. it basically IS blitzball without being entirely underwater, which is impossible because balls don't move well underwater. i was watching it on the olympics and i wanted to set control to manul and use a nap pass.
(sorry if people have already talked about this - i didn't know)

Well therein lies the difficulty of Blitzball. One, you have to hold your breathe for 5 (maybe 7) mintue intervals, and you have to be able to hold your breathe while being tackled and while giving the physical exertion to pass or make a goal, and while swimming back and forth rather frequently. Two, the ball has been show several times to float. Maybe inside the sphere pool, gravitational pull might work a bit differently (since the water is kind of suspended in mid-air), but still it must take great physical exertion to be able to throw the ball or make a goal, which is why when you throw the ball or make a goal the strength you have for it slowly goes down as the force is slowly taken over by gravity. So if you lose the force you put into it the ball won't go where you threw it. I would imagine this is a rather difficult sport to play.
Bawhhh...just me ranting.
