Pretty simple question. Anyone have any recommendations for web site hosts? I've found a couple suitable ones for around $8-$10/mo but I'd like to look at a few more before I pick one.

I have a free account (it was a limited offer) through 1and1. Their Linux hosting plans are pretty cheap, and I've had great service the whole time I've been hosted.

Apparantly, you get a free domain name with any of the packages. The lowest end Linux hosting is $4.99/month and lowest end MS hosting is $6.99/month. And keep in mind that lowest end is 500mb of space, 25gb transfer a month, PHP, SQL, Perl, etc. etc. Which is awesome.

http://www.square-network.com/ because I know the owner (and in fact, so do you), and I know it's reliable.

I've had Lunarpages for over a year. I think there were a few hours downtime total. I do screwy things like email them and say "Give me PHP exec() access" and within a day they email me back and say "We did, and also moved you to a new physical server, have fun". They have phone support if you care for such things. A nice control panel (same one that EoFF uses), lets you auto-install phpBB and stuff like that. It's $8 per month or so, and you get 40GB bandwidth a month and 800MB storage. Blah blah blah etc. I liked them enough that I bought another year from them.

One thing they did that made me mad was disable MovableType site-wide and not tell me, and then they disabled my blog in the middle of me working on it. Admittedly they let me keep my blog a few months after they made the decision to disable them, and they did it because people's blogs were getting hacked. But I wish they'd told me. And also, you don't get shell access. Not like I can't get around that with Perl, but anyways.

I'd reccomend www.valueweb.com (it's what I use) but now that I've seen lunarweb I am thinking about changing when my subscription runs out.

Someone recommended to me colossalhost.com and globat.com. I'll probably go with one of those or lunarpages.com, I guess.

EDIT: Screw that, check this one out: http://canaca.com/
