im sure these questions have been asked already, but i just dont know where to look for the answer.

in FFVIII im trying to get to Esthar city on the 3rd disk i believe. how in the world do i get there and...did i miss out on getting bahamut? or do you get him later on?

and does anyone know what GF's you get up to that point? cause i have an empty space in my list...and i dont know if im missing someone or not.

thanks in advance for any imformation anyone can give me.

If you're still in FH go to the train station (up the steps from the battle with the tank thing from the missile base), then just keep going in a straight line thorugh a fair amount of story till you get there.

You haven't missed Bahamut.

You've probably missed Siren, Carbunkle, Leviathan, Pandemona, Alexander or Cerberus I think. If you didn't get Diablos or Brothers you really should experiment more! I can't remember if there's meant to be an empty space or not, but I don't think so. Of the first six I mentioned at least the first five can be aquired again on Disc 4, I think Cerberus aswell.

Need to play this game again, it's been too long.

List of GFs:
Quezacoatl, Shiva, Ifrit, Siren, Brother, Diablos, Carbuncle, Leviathan
Pandemona, Cerberus, Alexander, Doomtrain, Bahamut, Cactuar, Tonberry King, Eden.

You won't get them in order so don't worry about empty spaces.

Here's a short sum up of where to find the GFs so you can fill in any empty
spaces that you're unsure of. I'll put it in a spoiler tag in case anyone
wants to find them on their own. I'll also put the monster that you can
draw them from in Ultimecia's Castle in brackets.

Quez: Squall's computer...bla [N/A]

Shiva: See: "Quez" :p [N/A]

Ifrit: You definitely have him. [N/A]

Siren: Should have drawn her from Elvoret when you went on the Dollet
mission. [Tri-Point]

Brothers: Tomb of the Unknown King, I'm going on memory here so it'll be
a bit vague...you have to find a lever and pull it so that a bridge is
lowered allowing you to access the central part of the Tomb. When you
get there you can fight the Brothers and make them join you. [N/A]

Diablos: Remember that lamp that Cid gave you? The one that says
"save before you use this" well save before you use it, because when
you do, Diablos will fight you, and by disc 3 he'll be at a pretty nice
level...watch out. :) [N/A]

Carbuncle: Draw him from Iguion during the Sorcoress Assassination.
[Krysta]

Leviathan: Draw from NORG in the Balamb Garden Basement. [Trauma]

Pandemona: Draw from Fujin when you fought in Balamb after finding the
captain and all that jazz. [Red Giant]

Cerberus: Should have fought him in Galbadia Garden during the attack.
[Gargantua]

Alexander: Draw from Edea during the fight when you can actually
defeat her, just before disc 3. [Catoblepas]

Doomtrain: Get Solomon's Ring at Tear's Point (near Esthar, the place
with the big statues) and get 6 of each of these items:
Remedy +
Steel Pipe
Marlboro Tentacle
Then use Solomon's Ring. [N/A]

Bahamut: Defeat Bahamut on Battleship Island aka Deep Sea Research
Facility. [N/A]

Cactuar: Defeat Jumbo Cactuar on Cactuar Isle. You can't get there
until you have the Ragnarok, but it's at the southern tip of the Esthar
area. You'll see a little cactuar running around on the world map.

Tonberry King: Tough one. First defeat Odin at the Omega Ruins
(definitely use Enc-None to get to him) then AFTER beating him, kill
around 15-20 tonberries and after you kill one (IN THE SAME FIGHT),
Tonberry King will appear. So don't use mad rush like I did, I just barely
beat Tonberry King with 3 lvl 100 characters. :p

Eden: After defeating Bahamut, go back to the Ragnarok. If Zell isn't
in your party, it's a good idea to switch him in somewhere on the world
map. Then come back to where you defeated Bahamut and go down
the hole. Continue down and you will come to an area with multiple
levels, at each you will have to fight 3 battles. Enc-None won't change
this, they're mandatory. The monsters get harder and harder and end
with Ruby Dragon (I believe), then on the next floor you will find a bunch
of machines and other things, and also Ultima Weapon. Draw Eden from
him and then pat yourself on the back for defeating probably the second
hardest enemy in the game.

I would suggest that you go to Esthar and play out the game until the
point where you get the Ragnarok, then after getting the Ragnarok go
on a GF hunt. The Garden won't be able to get to most of the places
you need to go to get the GFs listed here.

Good luck.

i didnt get that pandemona GF you guys are talking about...at least i dont think so. describe it and ill be able to tell you. everything else sounds familiar.

and as far as esthar goes...im pretty sure i just got done with the white seeD ship...and rinoa fell ill with something. after that it threw me to the world map after telling me that i need to find Esthar. i stopped playing the game for a little bit because i couldnt find the place that i was trying to get to. so im pretty sure that im looking for esthar. i just dont know where to go to get there. i have that "official" walkthrough book...but it doenst tell me how to get there. i dont know if im just retarded or what...but i just cant find the stinkin place. :shame:

i appreciate the help optium....your info was really, very informative. and phoenix i appreciate all that you put into the conversation as well.

He's the wind GF, the GFs are arranged in my post in order, so he's the
first one on the bottom.

Esthar is in the middle of the big continent on the West side of the map,
it's a huge city with "highway" looking things all over it, you can't miss it. :)

Go to FH. That's the town in the middle of the ocean where theres a long bridge across. Just drive up to it with the Garden and can access it by going through the door at the end of the second floor corridor (or first floor, the one with the your classroom). When you get to the big bowl type area, walk right before entering it and keep going until you get to where you fought the tank. Head up the steps and it's pretty straightforward from there.

 i got so far....i finally found Esthar city. i got to the moon!! and then....then, my game just dies on me. apparently my disc is to scratched to play the FMV scene of the lunar cry happening. im depressed. i wanted to cry....after finally finding the damn city. all that struggle. now i need to either buy a new game, or find some sort of disc repair thing.

i couldnt go without my final fantsy though....so i picked up FFIX. when i first saw the way the characters looked like little kids i was a bit put off. so whatever....i decide to finally play it. i have to tell you, im hooked. i started the game yesterday and im on the 2nd disc already. i played it all day yesterday. it was ridiculous. i hadnt played a video game all day like that before. it was freakin great. i am now obsessed and am sitting here at work, wishing that i could be playing it. im out of control. i love it though!!! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! :D

edit: borrowed my brothers game and finally got past that unar cry part then. i can't wait to be this game...i heard the ending was amazing, and the cause of much controversy between some of my friends. heh.

this is probably one of the only FF games whose endings haven't been ruined for me yet. :grumble: i haven't beaten 9 yet but i kinda know what happens. :hot: and i haven't beaten 1-6 yet, but i think some of those endings were revealed to me. :twak:
