My technical knowledge of the internet is limited at best, so before I rush out and buy FFXI, having already upgraded my computer to cope with it, will it run behind a firewall. My university halls internet connection comes with a firewall that blocks me from using HTTP Filesharing programs such as Kazaa and won't let me java games such as Literati on Yahoo. Will this stop me from playing FFXI online?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

No, it won't, at least in my case. My university's ISP blocks KaZaa etc filesharing things, but not online games. I can't remember the term they use on these kind of things.

It's very case sensitive; I'd suggest you to contact your ISP and ask about this before buying anything. Hope it works.

I've got a completely new technical question, but i'll just post it in here, instead of starting a new thread.

I play on the PS2. I've got DSL with a router for my pc and ps2. Right now i have hard-line the ps2 to the modem to be able to keep a stable connection for PO and FFXI. When hooked up to the router, my connection fails after about 3 minutes while playing the game. My pc net connection runs beautifully. Now I've gotten rid of my isp's firewall, and the belkin router's firewall, and opened up all the appropriate ports, but i STILL can't friggin play ffxi on the router. It really sucks having to unplug the ps2 from the modem so i can connect the router so i can get on the net on the pc, every time i want to get on the net. I got dsl so i could do both simultaneously, and i'm very frustrated that i cannot.

Has anybody else experienced anything like this? Please help me out, it would make my life soooo much easier.
