Other than Vincent, other Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy IX characters will also appear in the game.
I'm not sure where The Magic Box got that information, but I don't know if I like the idea. Cameo NPCs, perhaps, but I really hope they don't join the two games together plot-wise.

Ouch!

If that's true I'll cry. Even cameos would be bad. I mean do FFIX and FFVII fit in together at all?

I'm confounded by this.

i would say it's a typo, but that seems too deliberate.

they'd have to change the character models for FFIX, which would be bad. :(

There have been alot of rumors and stuff tying Final Fantasies together but none of them, I don't believe, were official. In FFIX there was a reference to a "spikey haired" person if remember correctly. With Squeenix breaking many, many, many old traditions I wouldn't put tying FFs together past them.

We had a whole big topic a while back in the FF8 section about how the worlds got jumbled together in FF8 during the time compression.

Yea was it something to do with a spikey guy in a weapon shop? Or was it one of the Alexandrian soldiers talking to some flower girl who says he has looks but ni personality.. maybe it was both.

But yea as much as I love IX I don't they they'd work together.

the two don't mesh well. and, the site says its going to be an action adventure. i don't think Square has a good reputation for producing quality games outside RPG's, even if it is a spin-off of the gr8est.

it would suck big time if they'd throw two ff s into one for example the worlds are totally different i mean how would it look if you could go with steiner in his rusty outfit to esthar :D plus the world maps are all totally different
and in XI it was in the alexandrian weapon shop it would happen when you'd look at a big sword zidane would say i remember a spikey haired guy who had such a sword

The only reason FFIX had so many references to other Final Fantasy titles was because it was their last title before they moved into the "next generation" consoles. It was there to stir up nostalgia. It was there for fun. I still don't think they'd seriously consider a crossover. They've already got that strange FFVII/Dragon Warrior thing going on, I don't think they'd make a habit out of it.

Wow, website I've never heard of talks about game no- one knows about much yet.

By "FFIX characters" they probably mean someone will say something referring to Vivi and you'll have to fight a Mist Worm or two.

Hi Kingdom Hearts.
That is all too true. They've been expirementing lately. All of these experiments have come out very well for them. Hell, I've become more interested in Kingdom Hearts II than any of the new Final Fantasy titles.

I understand Final Fantasy being crossed over into other things, like Disney. But I think a Final Fantasy cross-over that's simply bringing two Final Fantasy games together would be very awkward. I think it'd ruin a part of the game.

Kingdom Hearts managed to bring both Final Fantasy VII and VIII characters together because their prior back-story from the games was erased. They changed them a lot so that they'd fit in with Disney characters in a game rated E for everyone.

i personally didn't like much of KH. then again, i never beat it, so i can't speak from a victorious point of view because i haven't experienced it fully

Ouch!

I was just using Kingdom Hearts to make a point about what kind of cross-overs work. Kingdom Hearts took the characters and kept what they looked like (to some extent), kept their personality and set them in with a whole bunch of different situations.

In Dirge of Cerberus it's the same world of FFVII. The same people exist and the same things happened. The only way they could bring in other characters and have it fit well would be to make a character who looks and acts like and is named Zidane (or anyone else) but have no background as the character Zidane was in FFIX.

That'd be lame.

yah that would be lame. but then again, there has been crossovers before in a ff, so i don't kno.....they'd have to do an EXTREMELY well job on recreating the character

I don't really remember any important cross-overs. There are reoccuring characters, such as Biggs and Wedge. There's the universal things like chocobos and moogles and summons. Garland and Ex-Death have appeared more than once, I can't say much about Ex-Death, but Garland from FFI and FFIX weren't the same people. (Actually, that's debatable, but we'll ignore that theory for now.)

The only one that pops out at me was Cloud's appearance in Final Fantasy Tactics, but they didn't really explain much about that anyways.

The others were just short references, such as in FFIX in the weapons shop in Lindblum, if you examine a buster sword on the wall, Zidane makes the comment that he saw a spikey-headed guy walking around with that kind of sword. Not much of a cross-over.

yah, i kno, but cross-overs nonetheless. they can make cross-overs, just make sure they make sense and don't ruin the original character.and if they have voices, i want them to try really hard to make them sound good. :p

All those points, and remember that there was "clouds shop" in the esthar mall in 8, and IX had a line in the ending "No cloud, no Squall will Hinder us" or something to that effect. Aeris (excuse me, "flower girl" has been referenced in a number of games, and appeared in Tactics during the quest to get cloud as a playable. then tehre the whole tactics thing. it's ALL open it seem, right now. shame though, i'd really like the FFVII world to stand on its own merits

Do you mean Gilgamesh? Because I can't remember Exdeath being in any game other than FFV.

I haven't heard anything else about FFIX characters, so I'm guessing someone typed it wrong. Maybe they saw Cait Sith and thought he was from FFIX.

Ouch!

Bleh, I knew that. Now I feel really stupid.

I didn't include Gilgamesh 'cause he never had an important role unless I'm not remembering something.

it may suck badly if they will put FFIX and FFVII in the same game, in witch world are they gonna be?
i wonder what would it look like if zidane and the other party of FFIX are gonna be in FFVII world.

How reliable is this website anyway? I mean, I'd love to see Zidane and co. get some more attention....they were some great characters. But this does indeed seem like an odd way to do it, if it is true. A RPG focusing on crossovers would be much more appropriate than an action game starring Vincent for the IX characters. I can't decide if seeing some of my favorite characters in this game would be good or bad... :greenie:

I'm hoping its just a rumor or a typo. Also, about the "crossovers" like "No Cloud, No Squall shall hinder us" or whatever, I wouldn't call that a crossover, I'd just call that an easteregg, or a reference. More like a fun little tidbit or inside-joke type thing that the creators put into the game to make the audience go "hey, thats familiar! Wow!" There never was an actual crossover between characters and worlds, where each character and world kept their actual personality and backstory. The closest comes to Tactics with the whole Cloud thing, but even then, they don't combine the two storys so it doesn't really necessarily count.

Wait for the screenshots before you jump to conclusions. I won't believe one way or the other until I see proof that Squenix has put FFIX characters in the game.

Hi guys...well I think that it is anything coz i've heard somewhere that it will be FFX character (lol Tidus would be cool there:P(and in FF7AC too)) and my friend told me that it will be FF6 people :P

But I really think that only VIVI will fit with {Caithttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/lovesmile.gifhttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/lovesmile.gifhttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/lovesmile.gifhttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/lovesmile.gif} :P (sorry i never used him in FF7:P)
