You're not doing good, you're doing well. ;]

You could use more abilities though, a good way to gain is to use abilities
that are unique to the current dressphere or to use items. Each time you
do one of those things you gain an ability point. You also gain 1 point each
time you kill an ememy, so killing a bunch with only Attack is very bad for
gaining abilities.

You are doing well. Might want to keep raising levels. Also what I found helpful is that make either Rikku or Yuna a whitemage or alchemist and make them learn everything. *forget what chap you get alchemist dressphere*

Just stuff that helped me in the long run.

^^ but your doing good. And did you mean your new to the forum of new to final fantasy all together?

If you want to gain abilities, I suggest fighting an easy enemy that doesn't
do any status effects, like one of the birds in the calm lands. Don't kill it
though, just get into a battle with 1 of them, if it's with other monsters
kill those so it's just the 1 bird. Then get an alchemist who knows a Stash
ability and just have her use potion each turn on whoever doesn't have
100% health. Have a warrior use Sentinel and have a white mage cast
cure or something. Also set your control type to Memory in battles so that
you don't have to choose a special ability every single turn. Now just hold
the X button and let the girls do their thing. Every time they use an
ability they'll gain 1 AP so they'll be leaning like mad. Once you get bored
kill the bird and go do something else, but keep in mind that you can only
gain 99 AP per char per battle. Of course it'll take like 2 hours to get 99 AP
so chances are it won't happen anyone, but I know some people here are
:love::love::love::love:ing crazy (i.e. anyone who's gotten Lulu's Sigil :p)

Keep in mind that you can start a New Game Plus when you beat the game
and with this you keep all your items and dresspheres and stuff but start
back in Chapter 1.
