does win98se have troubleshoot ?

if not try going to controll panel - appearence and themes-display-settings-advanced- there might be a setting you can change to make it work

see the main problem is that I've checked the "Problem" out via the cofig system options re-installed drivers to my hearts content even re-formatted and installed clean twice and the problem wont go. however the config system says its all good and there is no problem

Are you downloading drivers compatible with Windows 98? Companies aren't going to support Windows 98 forever.

Also make sure the monitor is turned on when you boot - Windows 9x/ME randomly like to reset your graphics drivers and settings if you boot with the monitor turned off for some silly reason :p

Why not upgrade your operating system? XD

Didn't Microsoft announce this summer that they would no longer officially support 98? Wouldn't be suprised if other hardware manufacturers followed suit - though, considering that the GeForce 2 is a little older, it should have it.

I'd recommend an operating system upgrade, if at all possible.
