Though not as highly regarded as football or baseball, fantasy b ball was a lot of fun last year (mostly because I won, come on guys, someone other than eest has to beat me at least once!). Here's the info:

League Name: Eyes on Final Fantasy
Password: eyeson
Draft Type: Live Draft
Draft Time: Tue Oct 19 6:30pm PDT [ Add to My Calendar ]
Max Teams: 12
Scoring Type: Rotisserie
Max Moves: No maximum
Max Trades: No maximum
Trade Reject Time: 1
Trade End Date: March 17, 2005
Waiver Time: 2 days
Can't Cut List Provider: Yahoo! Sports
Trade Review: League Votes
Max Games Played: 82
Start Scoring on: Tuesday, Nov 2
Weekly Deadline: Daily - Tomorrow
Roster Positions: PG, PG, SG, SG, G, SF, SF, PF, PF, F, C, C, Util, BN, BN, BN, BN, DL, DL
Stat Categories: MIN, FG%, FT%, 3PTM, 3PT%, PTS, OREB, DREB, REB, AST, ST, BLK, TO, A/T

The team limit is 12 but that can change accordingly, as can the draft time. The scoring categories and positions are basically the same as last year, but we had a small league and so could have a lot of players. If we actually do get 12 teams then I will shorten the rosters considerably. Let me know if you have any questions.

exactly, no hockey means more time for the NBA. Plus, the NBA can keep us occupied through that horrible fantasy wasteland between the Superbowl and April.

Starting five:

PG - Jason Kidd
SG - Paul Pierce
SF - Antoine Walker
PF - Andrei Kirilenko
C - Dirk Nowitski

*wins*

The Boston duo is reunited. Hopefully Walker will rebound now on a team without other superstars to overshadow him. Nowitski was the guy I wanted first so that works out well. Kidd and Pierce are good and so is Bibby who isn't even listed, plus I have plenty of center depth with is always important. Kirilenko should build on his breakout season last year. I am also glad I got Josh Howard, who impressed me last year in the playoffs against the Kings. I am very happy with my team.

I have Shaquille O'Neal and Allen Iverson, unless one of them gets injured, there is no way I can lose. I even have Ray Allen as a backup. Not only that, Shaq plays in the weakest division in the Southeast.

Del Murder

EDIT: Dingo: You do know that stats count for all your non benched players, right? I only ask because you said Ray Allen was a 'backup' and you also only carry one center.

Yeah, but I meant Ray Allen as a "insurance" player. He's one of the leading scorers in the league, so in case anything happens to either O'Neal or Iverson, Allen is usually productive enough to keep me on top.

eestlinc
10-23-2004, 09:57 PM
Iverson and O'Neal are great players but they aren't the absolute best fantasy players. Anyway, we all have superstars, so it will come down to who knows how to maximize the performance of a full team.

Kirobaito
12-05-2004, 04:49 AM
What's even worse is that I did see that. I thought that Dirk would win the MVP because of the Mavs' record, and that Duncan would have better individual numbers. Not the other way around.

Del Murder
12-05-2004, 05:08 AM
Still a long season to go.

In other news I lost Mr. '4.5 blocks a game' Kirilenko plus an all star center, but on the bright side I found some good center replacements on free agency and Jason Kidd comes back next week. I love my point guards.

Dingo Jellybean

Shaq daddy worried me a bit, but he's done well so far. 21ppg and 11.5 rpg. Not the Shaq he use to be of 26ppg and 13rpg, but still great numbers.

Looks like KG will be MVP again. Ray Allen has really played great for me. I forgot to keep track of my fantasy team, oh well.

Kirobaito
12-10-2004, 04:31 AM
With Jermaine O'Neal and Stephen Jackson being suspended, my season has gone down the drain. I was competing with sphere and Del for the top 3 spots for much of the first month, but I've fallen to 6th. Ick.

Del Murder
12-10-2004, 04:52 AM
I was wondering when Fresno would start to make his run. He's always got at least one in him, and is likely the only person who can compete with me.

Also, hard not to give the MVP to Dirk at this point, but of course KG is the man, can't argue with that. With Finley back, it is likely that his numbers will decrease somewhat. Still a lot of season left.

Go Kings!

Here we are a quarter of the way through the NBA season and we've seen some ups and downs.

Ups:

1. The Sonics
2. The Suns
3. The Magic

Downs:

1. The Hornets 2-19?! Are you serious?!
2. The Rockets, so much for the dynamic duo of Yao and T-Mac. Though I still have too much respect for Jeff Van Gundy to declare them dead yet.
3. The Pistons, who look anything but defending Champs right now.

If I had to rank the top 5 teams:

1. Spurs
2. Suns
3. Sonics
4. Kings
5. Magic

Also, in my opinion the MVP picture looks like this:

1. Steve Nash
2. Kevin Garnett
3. Tim Duncan
4. Dirk
5. Ray Allen

To support my Nash argument:

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=neel/041215

He's averaging 11 assists and shooting nearly 54% from the field, wow.

My fantasy team is just beginning to mesh well and I think that if Houston can play enough minutes as my utility player, I'll have consistent stas in most categories since right now I'm lacking in 3-pointers and FT%.

Take care all.

Good ol' Warriors. Play solid ball last night in an upset of Dallas in Dallas, then go on to lose to a 1-19 team the next day.

Nash is good, but a lot of the Suns success is due to the emergence of Stoudemire and Marion being one of the top players in the NBA. He was certainly the catalyst, though. Certainly a good pick in fantasy. When I saw Nash go I was very impressed because I had forgotten all about him. Who ended up with him again?

I think it will be Dirk vs. KG all year.

EDIT: Ah, yes. I took the injured Kidd and then KG took Nash one pick later. One of the few times I've been bested in the live draft, so I'll give credit to the kid for that, though my Kidd should be at full strength soon, and I have good depth at PG regardless.

... Well, after looking it over, the closest thing to a big game was Mike Dunleavy last Friday, so all's well.

Del Murder
01-26-2005, 02:35 AM
Dunleavy can be good on any given night, but his inconsistency is annoying. That's why I decided Speedy Claxton to be my Oakland representitive.

SG is a tricky spot to fill. A lot of those guys get points but little else, with the exception of elites like Kobe and Pierce. Christie was one of the good overlooked ones, because you could count on 10-5-5, with almost two steals and good percentages to boot, but the trade to Orlando is hurting that so far.

Actually if you look at the numbers he was putting up when he went down, 22 points per game, over 7 rebounds and 4 assists, he left quite a void to fill. Factor in how a healthy J-Kidd would have effected his numbers, he'd probably be averaging closer to 26 had he been healthy, which would have made a big difference.

You have nowhere to go but up! If you stop now, you'll never be able to build upon what you've done thus far even if it doesn't seem like much.

Take care all.

I think it's maybe lack of effort. Like, I've been on 4 fantasy leagues, I've always finished last on all of them. I haven't checked my Yahoo! fantasy basketball in 5 months, and when I did...the four starters I had were on IR.

Maybe in the short run, like for 2 weeks, I can probably compete. I didn't even make a single transaction, but everyone else did.

I had Ray Allen, Shaq, Grant Hill (whom I took a chance on and never regret), Q, and others. Allen had a great year and also especially Hill, I love Grant Hill. He's just one of those quality guys that you can root for.

The Captain
04-22-2005, 08:09 AM
Indeed, when you compete in anything, especially something spaced out over such a long period of time, it can be very helpful to check up every once in a while to see how you are progressing. Some people, myself included, become so addicted to sports, both in reality and on the fantasy side that we border on the fanatic, but on the flip side, we are aware and able to tweak our lineups more often for better results.

I agree about Grant Hill. There's not a classier player in basketball.

Take care all.
