Something to do with the way the earth spins I think but your right it shouldn't be cold anywhere but Antartic, Antartica and Scotland.

What's "Winter"? Around here we drive about two hours to get to snow for a fun day, and then drive home to our palm tree gardens.

Below 60 I feel like I'm freezing to death. Anything below 70F is bad enough!

Does mathematical equations of what F is in C... 21 Celsius? That's not cold! maybe I did something wrong.....
60F = 15.5C; 70F = 21C

it's so cold because we're three more million miles away from the sun due to the earths ecaliptical obrit, yay thankyou GCSE science.

Winter sucks. It overlaps and covers Autumn where I live. Yep, that's right, it's snowed already on the mountain where I live and it's really cold already. The snow will probably be on the ground until the first week of April like it was last winter. And my I can't drive my Trans Am in the winter. :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

My feelings exactly. Where I live there are four seasons: summer, January, February and March. It's only really cold for about five weeks out of the year, and that's more than enough for me.

Us Danes are used to cold and bad weather. Actually, I tend to kind of like the coldness outside. o_O

Sigh 2 years of GCSE Sciense and all I managed to remember is
"a catalyst speeds up a reaction"
I like Winter especially when i'm indoors wrapped in a blanket drinking hot chocolate and eating toast MMMMM.

I live in Michgan and I'm part grizzly bear, so cold is enjoyable to me. I'd run outside naked doing snow angles if nobody was watching.

I imagine that would be more fun if someone was watching. Where I'm from in Missouri it's always really hot in the summer and cold in the winter so it's like we live in a great big paradox, but right now I live in Georgia and I'm looking forward to an easy winter.

It snowed here once in the past 11 years. Winter = rain.

I like cold! And rain! And snow!

I HATE the winter.

Snow is terrible.

The ratio of good to bad is like 100:1.

Sure, some punk little poser kids can go snow boarding, but all the crashes, deaths, injuries, problems, and money that it costs us is ridiculous.

So many people die driving in the snow.
So many people die freezing to death because they dont have heat.
So much tax dollars goes to plowing and moving this stuff.
So many people get hurt in crashes, avalanches, and accidents.

And its so cold. It sucks to go outside in the winter. You have to shovel snow and your locked up in your house all day. Plus you got to dress warm in layers which is a hassle.

on the other hand, if we were a bit closer to the sun, there's a chance that nothing would exist as it is today anyway

Winter's awesome. I'm looking forward to staying in my shorts well into december. Between 60 and 70 degrees is perfect, but I don't mind it when it's much, much colder. That, and skiing's really fun.

Heh. 15-21 Celcius cold? Don't make me laugh. I'd advise you guys to stay away from here for the next few months....

Yeah. I hate hate hate hate HATE the cold. I wanna move to a nice beach somewhere, and bake myself to death on a rock.

Summer is just about to begin where I am; lots of fine, sunny days have already been. A cold snap has just hit, but hopefully that'll just last for the weekend.

way up north here in Coldest Hel, we have 4 seasons. Winter, Still Winter, Nearly Winter and Not Winter.

sno = good.

cold = good.

heat = bad.

Alaska is the best place in the world to live. The air is clean, there's tons of climbing and snoboarding, we have sunny blue skies (unlike S. California) and it's cold. it's uncomfortably warm when it's 80 degrees outside. The best temperature is 20 degrees. Or -5 if you're using Celsius. And the absolute best part, there's sno on the ground from october to late may/ early june. sno = :love:

Actually, during the Northern Hemisphere's winter, we're actually closer to the sun.

I can explain why we're so much warmer when we're farther from the sun, but that can take a while.

He's tight. It has to do with the tilt of the Earth and where the sun's direct rays hit.

chaos: I love Winter, and I don't mind if it's cold. Especially when it snows to a very high height :D

Rubedo: Pretty much all I do during winter is stay inside the house, and sip hot chocolate for a straight two weeks :tongue:
