Are there any songs that you find sad, or even go as far as make you cry?

For me, Two Beds and a Coffee Machine by Savage Garden is one of them.

Yes, uhm 'Hello' made me cry and a song that I wrote 'My Last Night alive' made me cry a lot while I was writting it!

It doesn't make me cry - but 'Hurt' by Johnny Cash is pretty darn powerful.

I haven't actually cried to a song in awhile, but these make me sad:
Wearing the Inside Out - Pink Floyd
Learning to Fly - Pink Floyd
Mother - Pink Floyd
High Hopes - Pink Floyd
(ok pretty much all of Pink Floyd's Division Bell, and most of the Wall.)
Somebody to Love - Queen
Carry That Weight - The Beatles
Mad World (Gary Jules's version. Its much more depressing)
Paint it Black - Rolling Stones.

And the last song to make me cry:
Nobody Home - Pink Floyd

Bother - Corey Taylor because I only tend to listen to it when I'm in a cryin mood
Halleujah - Jeff Buckley because it's just so utterly beautiful

I was thinking about making a thread like this recently, though I wanted to make it more about songs that rape your soul. Ah well.

"How To Disappear Completely" by Radiohead is one that kinda makes me wanna be dead.

There is no truer statement than that. *listens*

Oh, yeah. "Adiemus" sung by Enya is so...beautiful, but sad. Or maybe it was just me. Anyhow, I cried while listeneing to it.

Most of Enya's songs makes me cry...I love her...
songs like...Watermark, what a wonderful piano piece...Na Laetha Geal M'Oige, a beautiful lament...How Can I Keep From Singing, dedicated to all the heroes in the world...Athair Ar Neamh, a real tear jerker...On Your Shore...China Roses, perhaps the beautifullest song ever recorded...Aníron, a dedication to the immortal love between Arwen and Aragorn...Tea-House Moon, I don't know why...but this one has me rippin' tissues to shredds...and I could go on and on and on...Only Time, I Want Tomorrow, Fairytale.

*listens on repeat*

I'm listening to far too much Johnny Cash and Jeff Buckley these days. When you're in a certain frame of mind, they certainly can mess with your head...

Smashing Pumpkins' Disarm is quite, good - not in the Cash/Buckley league of course. Radiohead's Street Spirit is also a good one, but almost too bleak to be taken seriously.

There's a lot of songs that make me sad....to many, probably. But here's a shortened version of THE LIST:::

---May it Be (Enya, on the FotR soundtrack)
---Into the West (Annie Lennox, RotK soundtrack)
---Actually, almost any song on any of the LotR soundtracks can make me cry, not only because they're sad, but because of the sheer beauty
---Drown (Limp Bizkit)
---Bend the Bracket (Chevelle)
---Cure my Tragedy (Cold)
---The One (Limp Bizkit)

That's all I can think of at the moment...

Also a few Radiohead songs make me think a bit and feel a bit sad. Such as "I Will" and "No Suprises".

It was the first song I heard when a girl turned me down. I was in a sad mood, anything could bring me to tears, even the spongebob squarepants theme tune

Mama Said by Metallica (it's an obscure song on the album Load)
You've got to be kidding. That's Metallica's worst song EVER :( (and sorry in advance if I missed your point if I understood the word "obscure" wrong... so if you meant that it's so BAD that it makes you sad, then I understand x))

Nothing Else Matters, though, once made me cry, when I was on their gig at Helsinki for the first time in my life - and it was so amazing (since Metallica's my favorite band) that I had to shed a tear :)

Also some movie themes (when I listen to them while watching the movie) make me sobby, but that really is their job in the film, duh x).
Some themes are already sad in theirselves, meaning you don't have to watch the movie to feel touched by the theme. I think Braveheart's theme describes these kinds of themes well.

Right now no other sad songs come to mind. Bleh

For me, The Smashing Pumpkins play most of my favourite Sad songs...
Here are my saddest...

Appels & Oranjes
("What if the sun refused to shine?, what if the clouds refused to rain? What if the silence let you dream? What if the air would let you breathe? What is, what is isn't you? What are you gonna do?")

Bjork songs also affect me...

Who Is It?

Dido...

Non that make me cry, but i do have a number of CD's i built for depression days.

The Freshmen - The Verve Pipe is probably my biggest one. it came out way back in the glory days of the ninetys, before rap metal took over, and you enver, ever hear it anymore on the radio (least, not around here)

Beethovens Sonata de Luna is big on my list to, as is a bunch of stuff by Radiohead

Crime of the Century by Supertramp is freaking Brilliant, the same for a few songs on the "Breakfast in America" disc, And Smashing Pumpkins "Rain" is incredible (from Machina)
