I do. My rule is that none of my chars can ever be KO'ed. I can't ever lose at the card games, blitzball, or sphere break. No cheat codes whatsoever. That includes glitches like the regen trick in ff7. Oh yeah, and no walkthroughs the first time i go at the game. I'm allowed after I finish it to see what I missed. Ive finished VII, VIII, X and Kingdom Hearts like this. I lost X-2, and I'm playing IX currently. If any1 has any rules they go by, tell me pls. I don't like to feel like a freak.

Name the characters after my friends the first time through, then give them goofy names the second if I feel like it. example ff4:
Cecil=Stinky
Kain=Bugboy
Rosa=Nympho
Rydia=G.Bean for greenbean
Tella=Mel (Joke between me and friend Jeff)
Gilbert=Wally
Twins=Brat1 and Brat2
Yang=Butt (Don't know why, but it seems to work)
Edge=Hotdog
Fusoya=Mophed(Watch him die, you'll see what I mean)

Other than that just that when I play drunk I seem to always pass out and run the clock up.

I have to get every treasure and if I missed one and can't get it I will reset the game. I also must steal from all bosses whenever this is possible.

Don't run away, it's bad for leveling up. However, this does present a problem when facing Tonberries...

The only "rule" I follow during at least one play through the game is to not use a cheat device. I will still fully exploit glitches.
Also, I'd like to know how you plan on doing the Queen of Cards sidequest in FFVIII without ever losing...
On some other play throughs, I might limit my cheat device use to some minor things like starting out with max of all items (not infinite, though) or to cheat at winning the mini-games like the card games, blitzball, etc...

Man, you guys reminded me stuff i forgot to put on there. I also don't run away. I've also started the stealing on all bosses thing. As for the Queen of Cards side quest, that was an exception. I'm kind of having a hard time not being KO'ed against Beatrix in Burmecia though, her Shock attack is just 2 strong( I know I'm not very far).

I don't have a problem with my characters getting KOed, but finishing a battle with any of them KOed is something I try my best to avoid. However, if I happen to win a battle with one or more KOed characters, I don't reset or anything; I just revive them out of battle and continue and try not to let it happen again.

I save all my stat. up items for the end of the game and then divvy them out to my final party, whatever it may be.

The only game I always reset if someone dies is FFI, because I like how the whole party has equal experience and levels up all at once.

My only rules: Don't use moves that I consider cheap or cheat.

My rules for ff9 are: Whenever I get a equip item that teaches me skills I dont know, I train untill i learn them all before going on. Also, about the not losing to beatrix... IT'S IMPOSSIBLE! Your supposed to lose to her! It shows how powerfull her abilities are. (I can't believe she is only level 17 or so)

Yeah, in FF1 if I die I reset it but no others. In FFIX when I get a new item with new skills I continue playing through until I have an item that replaces the first one. If I still haven't learned the first items skill, I'll fight until I've learnt yhem all then equip the new item and move on.

I know I can't beat her. She actually never KO'es me with her last attack though. She only puts everyone to 1 hp. I'm not having as hard of a time not dying since I figured out that I can just use Mighty Guard and shock won't kill me in a shot. Im'm just having a hard time stealing the mythril sword she carries before she ends it with Stock Break.

My one and only rule is this: it puts the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose.

No cheap crap- you know, moves like vanish/x-zone in VI, gil-toss in V and what have you. It's one of my pet peeves when someone uses something like this then whines/brags about how easy the game is.

I'll let a treasure opportunity pass if I know I'll replace it with something that is better in every way.

Always have at least 10 tents, preferably 15 or more, before leaving town.

Always have at least 10 of all specialty remedies- blindness, small, frog, poison- especially in the FFs where the generic heal spell is expensive.

I've no problem running, if the cost is not going to exceed the benefit. Especially true when I'm working against the clock. I look at this as part of the game, knowing when it would be best to run.

Rule 1: I never run
Rule 2a: I'm a real conservative, when it comes to video-games. I never use the super items(Elixirs, Megalixirs, Turbo/Mega Ethers, X Potions, Mega Potions, etc.) until the final boss.
Rule 2b: I never really use black, time, and summon magic unless I'm rushing and am near a town/save point, during boss battles, or if it's an emergency.
Rule 3: Save whenever possible.
