why final fantasy?

ok here is a good question for you, why is final fantasy named final fantasy? like is there any story behind the name or something? and if you couldnt answer that question then maby you could answer this one, what is your favorite ff game and why?

square soft was once a lowly developer and needed a game to keep them in business. so they wanted to create an RPG that changed teh face of RPG's and that would contend with Dragon Warrior. so they concentrated all their efforts into it, and it was a hit. the name final fantasy comes from, well, its a fantasy rpg, and if it didn't do well, it was teh final one. thus, the final fantasy.

EDIT:im positive theres more info than that and i might have gotten something wrong, so feel free to correct me.

my favorite ff's are ffvi and ffx, followed by ffix :D
