Do any of you know the term WHERE is different from WHEN?
then the last time would be when we fight velius.
The term "Last time" corresponds with time, not location.
the last place ive seen him is at were he turns to velius
You were the closest, you at least said the word place, but then you went vague on me...
The last time you see him is when he transforms into Velius.
I expected this from the newbies, but BTV you? Come on, you're above this. I was sure you'd know the term where.
None of these say WHERE, they specify when, but not the place.
For all of you...
Where
adv. - At or in what place.
Now, this is fairly simple.. WHERE is the first and last places we see Wiegraf?
HINT: The first location was mentioned numerous times!
Despotus
07-12-2005, 01:16 AM
First place is the slums of Dorter. And the last place is in Riovannes Castle. But I couldn't tell you which room... :p
BG-57
07-12-2005, 01:43 AM
All the battle tells you is that it's within Riovanes castle.
Boy Redcydranth, aren't you laying it on a little thick?
Azure Chrysanthemum
07-12-2005, 04:08 AM
Hey, give me a break, I'm too lazy to look up the locations :D
Despotus
07-12-2005, 02:06 PM
I guess I should post a question. :erm:
Which non-party character wields the most powerful weapon?
*Two possible answers for this one.*
To clarify further, I'm referring to attack power; and by "wields" I mean "carries in-hand" (not thrown). ;)
BG-57
07-12-2005, 03:52 PM
The second time you take on Balk he carries a Blast gun with a weapon power of 22.
Elmdor's Masamune has a weapon power of 18.
Rofel carries a Save the Queen with a weapon power of 18.
Despotus
07-13-2005, 01:20 AM
The second time you take on Balk he carries a Blast gun with a weapon power of 22.
You got the most conspicuous wielder of the mighty Blast Gun. So you are up, BG!
The other, and much rarer, place to meet an enemy with the Blast Gun is at Germanis Peak. Once in a blue moon you'll meet a random Chemist or Mediator with one.

This is another logic puzzle-type trivia question. :greenie:
Question: What's the maximum number of Steel Giants possible?
Azure Chrysanthemum
07-13-2005, 07:04 AM
Well that would depend on what you mean. In the game you can only see Worker 7 and Worker 8 on the battlefield at a time, but the fact that there is a Worker 7 and Worker 8 implies that there is also a Worker 1-6. However, just because we only see up to Worker 8 doesn't necessarily mean there aren't more. So, in battle the maximum number of Steel Giants is 2. Storywise, especially since Steel Giants are ancient technology, there is no real limit to how many COULD have been built, but we just don't know.
darkblade117
07-13-2005, 09:08 AM
wow.. u pretty much hit every angle there BtV... by jove, i think the guy got it...
BG-57
07-13-2005, 03:53 PM
It's not 2, 8, or limitless in number.
Let me rephrase the question a bit.
What is the maximum number of Steel Giants that could function at the same time?
darkblade117
07-13-2005, 06:01 PM
1
Azure Chrysanthemum
07-13-2005, 07:19 PM
Ah yes. All right, since the Steel Giants are functioned by the Zodiac Stones and there are 13 stones, 13 can function, or 12 if Serpentarius is unable to power a Steel Giant.
BG-57
07-13-2005, 10:27 PM
You are correct! Your turn Behold the Void. :)
Azure Chrysanthemum
07-13-2005, 11:31 PM
What attack generally proves to be incredibly effective against Zodiac Brave monsters, and what attack can be assured 999 damage against a Zodiac Brave in the right conditions?
Masamune·1600
07-14-2005, 01:30 AM
Cloud's Climhazzard has 999 damage potential against any opponent with ≥1000 HP.
Azure Chrysanthemum
07-14-2005, 07:11 AM
That's the first half, and the second? (Two part question)
RedCydranth
07-16-2005, 06:31 PM
Regardless of what your answer is, Masamune answered them both in a single sentence, that fits both halves of the question.
Azure Chrysanthemum
07-17-2005, 03:48 AM
I suppose so. That's the problem with getting your mind locked around one answer. All right, his go.
Masamune·1600
07-17-2005, 04:49 AM
Thanks, Red. :)
Okay, this one should be fairly easy. What's the significance of the strange level names NOGIAS and MLAPAN in Deep Dungeon?
Azure Chrysanthemum
07-17-2005, 05:15 AM
Saigon and Napalm.
eestlinc
07-17-2005, 05:50 AM
of course what those names actually signify int he context of Tactics is less clear. I guess the makers like Apocalypse Now, or the Vietnam War, or whatever.
Azure Chrysanthemum
07-17-2005, 06:14 AM
It could be some obscure hint at something, which might give us another thread to make as lord knows we've beaten everything ELSE about this game to death already.
Seriously though I don't know of any significance to the names beyond the fact that they are those two words spelled backwards.
BG-57
07-17-2005, 02:25 PM
All the levels of Deep Dungeon refer to Apocalypse Now (or at least the Vietnam War).
Nogias is Saigon, the capital of South Vietnam.
Terminate is from a common CIA phrase 'Terminate with Extreme Prejudice', i.e. 'Assassinate'.
Valkyries is a reference to Wagner's 'Ride of the Valkyries', which is blasted from a helicopter during a raid on a village.
Delta is a reference to the Mekong delta, where the river meets the ocean.
Mlapan is Napalm the inflammable substance used to burn trees and villages.
Tiger is an animal common to Asia, often featured in folklore.
Bridge could refer to any number of bridges along the rivers.
Voyage accurately describes the experiences of the main characters.
Horror is a reference to Kurtz's line about 'The Horror'.
End is self-explanitory.
Masamune·1600
07-17-2005, 06:10 PM
eestlinc and BG-57 are certainly correct in observing the references to the Vietnam War and Apocalypse Now. All I needed, however, was the observation that those two levels can be reversed in order to reveal the ideal word(s). You're up, BtV, but excellent work from the rest of you as well.
Azure Chrysanthemum
07-17-2005, 06:55 PM
Actually I think I'm going to abdicate in favor of BG-57 on this one, I think he deserves it more than I do and I can't think of a question.
BG-57
07-18-2005, 02:13 AM
You sure Behold the Void? Thanks. :)
Question: What's the 'noisiest' Unexplored Land in the game?
Masamune·1600
07-18-2005, 04:23 AM
Pandemonium, most likely, although it could also be the Tower of Babel. I'll go with the former.
BG-57
07-18-2005, 02:13 PM
Correct Masamune1600! :)
A whole bunch of demons howling together would be, well pandemonium. ;)
Masamune·1600
07-18-2005, 05:54 PM
Awesome.
Let's see....
If every ally is directly from the story (no generics), what is the maximum number of characters that can learn Zodiac?
Azure Chrysanthemum
07-18-2005, 07:27 PM
10, I think.
Ramza, Agrias, Mustadio, Orlandu, Rafa, Malak, Meliadoul, Beowulf, Reis, and Cloud.
Masamune·1600
07-18-2005, 11:36 PM
My definition of story characters (or, specifically, non-generics) is slightly broader than that. You're close, though.
Azure Chrysanthemum
07-18-2005, 11:38 PM
Add Rad, Alicia, and Lavian then. 13.
Masamune·1600
07-18-2005, 11:40 PM
Good call. You're up.
Azure Chrysanthemum

What are the components necessary for the "Calculator Holy Spam" technique, in which you constantly calculate Holy.
I'm looking for equipment and abilities.
BG-57
07-19-2005, 02:39 PM
I'm not quite sure I understand the question, but I'll take a stab at it.

No skills per se, but most characters will need to be in this class.
Equipment
Excalibur
Method
Have all the characters as Knights, or professions that allow the use of knight swords (like Holy Swordsman). Equip the party with as many Excaliburs as you can. Equip Math Skills as secondary skills. You can have each character cast Holy indescriminately and hit both friends and foes. Since Excalibur absorbs Holy, your characters that get hit will be healed.
Alternative Method
Have one character set up with Math Skills as secondary ability, the rest of the party as Mimes. Knights will not be necessary, nor will Excaliburs. When that one character casts Holy, everyone else will Mime that character's calculations of Holy.
Azure Chrysanthemum
07-19-2005, 07:44 PM
Yep, your go BG-57.
Chameleon Robes also work in this setup, but you got at least one of the methods, so you're up.
BG-57
07-19-2005, 11:10 PM
The game says that Balbanes attains the highest rank of 'Heavenly Knight'. We never are told what skills it encompasses, but it's likely that it includes sword based attack skills (like Holy Knight or Dark Knight). It's also likely he has more sword skills than even Orlandu.
Question: What sword skills could Balbanes have that aren't already included in Holy Swordsman skills?
Despotus
07-20-2005, 01:21 AM
Since Orlandu already has the sword skills of Dark Sword, Holy Sword, and Mighty Sword as a Holy Swordsman, I imagine the Heavenly Knight would have these plus the Magic Sword skills of a Temple Knight (i.e. Beowulf) Drain, Aspel, Chicken, Break, Shock, Blind, Zombie, Innocent, Faith, Silence, Berserk, Don't Act, Confuse, Despair, and Sleep.
There are also the Draw Out Samurai sword skills to consider... but as they are not "sword" skills I doubt it.
And in my personal point of view, I imagine Balbanes might have the Beoulve family abilities that Ramza has exclusively: Scream, Yell, Wish and Cheer Up. :)
Masamune·1600
07-20-2005, 01:33 AM
Well, as Despotus said, he'd have Beowulf's Magic Sword skill set to accompany Orlandu's abilities. It's also possible that he could have:
Destroy Sword abilities (Arc Knight Zalbag): Speed Ruin, Power Ruin, Magic Ruin, Mind Ruin.
-I like this idea, since Zalbag was Balbanes' son.
Limit abilities (Soldier Cloud): Braver, Cross-slash, Blade Beam, Climhazzard, Meteorain, Finish Touch, Omnislash, Cherry Blossom
-I find this unlikely because Cloud is not from Ivalice, but the Limits are unlocked by the Materia Blade, a sword.
Draw Out abilities (Samurai/Arc Knight Elmdor): Aura, Koutetsu, Bizen Boat, Murasame, Heaven's Cloud, Kiyomori, Muramasa, Kikuichimonji, Masamune, Chirijiraden
-Maybe.
I also like the idea of Balbanes having Ramza's specialized Squire abilities, although you should probably include Ultima. Recall that Alma can learn it in the final battles as well.
Despotus
07-20-2005, 01:42 AM
It's also possible that he could have:
Destroy Sword abilities (Arc Knight Zalbag): Speed Ruin, Power Ruin, Magic Ruin, Mind Ruin.
-I like this idea, since Zalbag was Balbanes' son.
Man, can't believe I forgot about those. Definitely a good possibility Balbanes knew 'Destroy Sword'
But, I don't think the Soldier Abilities are very likely, either, just because you have to have the Materia Blade to use them. The other Sword Skills mentioned can be released through any Knight sword or standard sword. ;)
darkblade117
07-20-2005, 06:30 AM
yeah, leave clouds stuff out of it... it's not from ivalice at all..
BG-57
07-20-2005, 01:53 PM
I was just asking for 'sword skills': skills that requite a sword to excute. That would exclude Draw Out (which uses katanas) and Battle Skills (which can be used with any weapon) and Ultima and Yell, etc....
I was thinking of Temple Knight. But Destroy Sword? It sounds like a variation on Knight's Battle Skills, which are not sword-dependent.
I'll give this one to Despotus.
Azure Chrysanthemum
07-20-2005, 09:07 PM
I'm inclined to think that Destroy Sword is like the Mighty Sword only affecting stats, but reliant upon a sword. But I've never been able to get Zalbag to use the attacks, and I'm not even sure if an animation exists for them, so I suppose we can't know for sure.
Despotus
07-21-2005, 05:17 AM
I dunno, I think I should have included the Arc Knight skills... so I'll just put a relatively easy one up for grabs. ;)
Which generic human classes will you never encounter in a random or storyline battle? (3 answers here)
Sin Magnum
07-21-2005, 05:28 AM
bard, dancer, and mime perhaps?
if i get it right someone can take my turn.
Despotus
07-21-2005, 05:41 AM
Well that was quick, and you're absolutely right. Sure you don't want a turn, Sin Magnum?
Sin Magnum
07-21-2005, 05:52 AM
yep im sure
Prancing Mad
07-21-2005, 08:26 PM
Can I take the question magnum?
Despotus
07-22-2005, 01:11 AM
Gosh, seems there's a lot of confusion about who should go. So, I guess I'll post another easy one and get the ball rolling again. :spin:
The Aegis Shield raises magic attack power, right? Which shield supposedly raises physical attack power?
BG-57
07-22-2005, 04:52 AM
Escutcheon II?
Masamune·1600
07-22-2005, 04:56 AM
The Kaiser Plate.
Despotus
07-22-2005, 11:21 AM
The Kaiser Plate.
You got it masamune. The Kaiser Plate's description claims that it raises wpn attack.

What in-game hint (meaning no reference to outside guides is needed) tells one to look to the highest peak of Bervenia Volcano for the Materia Blade?
Azure Chrysanthemum
07-22-2005, 07:11 PM
Cloud tells you to search something to the effect of "the highest point" when you talk to him in the formation screen. I think he mentions heat too.
BG-57
07-22-2005, 09:16 PM
Cloud says: "It's at the top of the volcano."
Masamune·1600
07-23-2005, 05:42 AM
BtV has the correct idea, and BG-57 has the exact words. Either one of you can take the next question.
Azure Chrysanthemum

BG-57 can have it, I was too lazy to bother looking up the exact wording.

Question: How are the Slums in Goug and Lost Sacred Precincts similar?
does this have anything to do with how the room where you talk to mustadio's dad about the fake stone is literally the exact same room in which algus started kicking that death corps guy? (I know it's not, but it is square probably just used the map again)
Fate Fatale
07-23-2005, 08:06 PM
both are street-like areas... I really can't remeber what the percincts are.. lol...
BG-57
07-24-2005, 03:44 AM
You'll need to be more specific.
ok wait, so was I right at all, I'm not surprised if i'm not but i'm curious
BG-57
07-24-2005, 04:00 AM
Vod, it is not related to any scenes. It's about the battlefields themselves. Keep at it though! :)
both of which are fights where over half of the field is roof? I don't know i'm just guessing now, or could it have something to do with geomancy...? nope, I can't think of it, it's on the tip of my tongue...
BG-57
07-24-2005, 04:28 AM
both of which are fights where over half of the field is roof?
You're on the right track here.
Fate Fatale
07-25-2005, 01:13 AM
both are valley type places, like a plateau with a valley in between... from a ground view, the stage would look like -l_l- or something of that sort...
BG-57
07-25-2005, 02:51 AM
There's no valley per se in the Slums in Goug though. It's a hill with buildings on it.
Fate Fatale
07-26-2005, 12:22 AM
both have ravines in them?
BG-57
07-26-2005, 03:32 AM
It's not about the topography, it's about the buildings. :greenie:
darkblade117
07-26-2005, 07:29 AM
same models, different textures.
BG-57
07-27-2005, 03:30 PM
The physical layout of the battlefields are quite different. I'm looking for one of two adjectives (or synonyms) to describe the state of the buildings.
they both have run down buildings in them (chipped chimneys and missing roof tiles) I don't know I made another file just to try to find this one, so this is a great question
BG-57
07-28-2005, 02:39 AM
You are correct Vod! :)
Both have ruined, overturned buildings. In the Slums of Goug, it's a windmill. In Lost Sacred Precincts, it's what look like some residential houses.
You're up!
Raven Bladewind
07-30-2005, 04:53 AM
10 Centuries.
Question: What battle doesn't automatically end when all the enemies have been defeated?
BTW, I was thinking of Byblos' Parasite skill to cause Oil status, but I figured there were others.the battle at the flood gate, cant think of the name
Wow, I am shocked, SHOCKED...well not that shocked ok let me think of a question...um...this will probably be easy.
True or False: All shrine knights wear the same clothes (different colors of course)
why did I bother guessing if I couldn't think of a good one?
BG-57
07-31-2005, 03:00 AM
Um, true? Well if I'm wrong, the next guess will be right. :p
You are correct Raven Bladewind, but that question was answered months ago. Vod correctly correctly answered the last question, so the guesses should be for his question. :greenie:
In all honestly I would have accepted true or false, it's true in the sense that yes, they all have the same robes and sashes and stuff (diffrent colors) but it's false in the sense that one or 2 of them wear hoods, so it didn't really matter. just whoever posted the first answer that was either true or false, you're up man
BG-57
07-31-2005, 06:16 PM
I don't have any ideas at the moment. Unless I delve in minutae again. :radred:
If you want Vod, you can ask another question. :)
Alright...In Barius Hill (I think thats it anyway, where you save Agrias) There is a fight where you must fight one of each type of dragon (green, blue, red) a king and dark behemoth, and an orange and black tiamat (tiamant...whatever) I for one hated this fight but the actual question is, in this fight what 2 monsters come to your aid as guest characters?
BG-57
08-05-2005, 03:57 AM
Wait, that's Bariaus Valley where you save Agrias.
I'm not sure, but I'll guess anyway:
1) Vampire
2) Chocobo
nope sorry, but i'll say this you're on the right track with the chocobo guess
BG-57
08-05-2005, 02:33 PM
1) Red Chocobo
2) Bull Demon
both wrong, but in good news, how many chocobos are left?
BG-57
08-06-2005, 02:00 PM
1) Black Chocobo
2) Squidlarkin
Nope, you got the chocobo right but heres another hint, think of the legends of hercules
abrojtm
08-10-2005, 05:16 AM
Chimera?err. I forgot that wasn't Herc it was Bellerophon.
Gotta be Medusa or Hydra I guess.
BG-57
08-10-2005, 04:54 PM
1) Black Chocobo
2) Hydra
No gorgons in this game, although some monsters can petrify.
assuming I remembered this correctly and that Hydras are the black ones you are absolutely right, you're up man
BG-57
08-11-2005, 03:32 AM
Hyrudras are orange, Hydras are black, Tiamats are gold.
Question: Based on the battles your party experiences, name a building that is apparantly larger on the inside than the outside.
Sasquatch
08-11-2005, 04:00 AM
Well, for one, the windmill looks quite a bit larger on the inside than it is from the outside. Prettymuch every major building, though, that you see the inside of.
BG-57
08-11-2005, 03:31 PM
You're right but your party doesn't fight a battle inside of the windmill.
Sasquatch
08-11-2005, 04:38 PM
I didn't say that, just that they see the inside of it after the battle, while they're looking for Teta. Just like Obornne looks bigger from the inside than it does on the outside. Prettymuch every building you see both the inside and the outside of, is bigger from the inside.
BG-57
08-11-2005, 10:20 PM
I know you didn't say that but I'm pointing out the conditions of my question:
Question: Based on the battles your party experiences, name a building that is apparantly larger on the inside than the outside.
Orbonne Monastary is fine. Your turn. :)
Sasquatch
08-11-2005, 11:14 PM
That works? Okay. Now I'm still lost, as I'm playing through this for the first time and don't know much about it. And I'm not going back through thirty pages to see what's been asked already...so instead of just posting a dumb question, I'll give it back to you ;).
BG-57

Okay, here's an easy one:
Question: What two summons can restore HP to allied units?
Azure Chrysanthemum

Moogle and Fairy.
Nakor TheBlue Rider
08-12-2005, 04:52 AM

Azure Chrysanthemum
08-12-2005, 08:01 PM
I always seem to catch the easy ones. Ah well, whatever.
Anyways, next question.
If you inherit an ability from a spirit crystal, is it possible for your job level to increase because of the job points the ability you inherited costs?
BG-57
08-12-2005, 11:27 PM
Um, yes?
Despotus
08-13-2005, 03:53 AM
On the contrary, I think it's not. For example, at the moment my Reis has only 482 summoner jp (Lvl 3), and she'll hit Lvl 4 when she's earned 550 jp. The wierd part is she has learned Moogle, Shiva, Ramuh, Ifrit, Titan, and Carbunkle (total jp 1270) obviously by stepping on some crystals. So it would seem that crystal-inherited abilities are completely independent from the jp you earn and, consequently, the job level attained. Wouldn't it be an interesting challenge to try to master a job class, and keep your level at 1, 2, or 3? :eyebrow:
Khimbar2775
08-13-2005, 03:57 AM
well, to talk about thgat theory, there is the degenerater (or something) trap that decreases your level, so you *could* master EVERY class at level one, but doing it strictly without thwarting the game... *whistle* thatll be a lot of fun...
BG-57
08-13-2005, 04:01 AM
I was guessing, but since it's a yes-or-no question if I'm wrong you're right. :greenie:
Despotus
08-13-2005, 04:11 AM
there is the degenerater (or something) trap that decreases your level, so you *could* master EVERY class at level one
Sorry for the confusion, I meant "while keeping your job level for a particular class, like Knight or Thief, at lvl 1, 2, or 3." Basically, you'd have to master the class by stepping on enemy crystals. Your character level can go up up up to 99, no penalty.
Azure Chrysanthemum
08-13-2005, 07:15 AM
Despotus is correct. Learning abilities from a crystal will NOT increase your job level.
Despotus

Several Treasures you can get as rewards from propositions seem to belong together in sets.
Question: Which Treasures can be grouped together:
a) As a set of 4?
b) As a set of 2?
c) As a set of 1?
Despotus
08-16-2005, 04:07 AM
Set of 4 Materias: Red, Blue, Black, and White
Set of 2 Breads?: Kid's Bread, and Adult's Bread
Set of 1, um...: Four Gods Set?
BG-57

Despotus
08-17-2005, 01:13 AM
Cool! Here's an easy one, what is the first monster you have to fight?
Sasquatch
08-17-2005, 03:38 AM
Isn't it Goblins? I think you have to save a Chocobo somewhere, and you have to defeat some Goblins and a Black Goblin or something to protect him. But I could be wrong, and if I'm right, I'll pass the next question.
The first monster you fight is a red panther at mandalia plains, I fail to see why that cat is after algus but normally just for fun I kill all the thieves and let the panther kill algus just to be funny
Despotus

Yeah that would be pretty funny. :joker: You're up Vod. :p
ok...it's up to me to think of a fun question for all...um...er...what is the name of each Lucavi you fight and who turns into them?
BG-57
08-18-2005, 04:55 AM
Cardinal Draclau = Queklain
Weisgraf = Velius
Elmdor = Zalera
Dycedarg = Adramelk
Vormav = Hashmalum
Alma = Altima
Elidibs = Serpentarius
oh thank goodness Zalera that was it, alright, you're up again man (I was gonna be really anal and mention with Worker7 and the cancer stone but I suppose technically they don't count anyway)
BG-57
08-18-2005, 05:10 PM
Worker 7 New wouldn't count because it's a Steel Giant, not a Lucavi. Same goes for Worker 8. Not all of the Zodiac stones turn the people who handle them into Lucavi.
Question: Each Dancer's skill has a counterpart Bard's skill. Match the Dances to the Songs.
Masamune·1600
08-18-2005, 05:43 PM
The Dancer abilities are Witch Hunt (reduces enemy MP), Wiznaibus (reduces enemy HP), Slow Dance (lowers enemy speed), Polka Polka (lowers enemy PA), Disillusion (lowers enemy MA), Nameless Dance (status effects), and Last Dance (lowers enemy CT to 0).
The Bard abilities are Angel Song (restores ally MP), Life Song (restores ally HP), Cheer Song (raises ally speed), Battle Song (raises ally PA), Magic Song (raises ally MA), Nameless Song (can give beneficial status effects), and Last Song (fills ally CT to 100).
Clearly, then, Witch Hunt corresponds to Angel Song, Wiznaibus to Life Song, Slow Dance to Cheer Song, Polka Polka to Battle Song, Disillusion to Magic Song, Nameless Dance to Nameless Song, and Last Dance to Last Song.

Ok, for a change of pace here's a number problem that you don't need Math Skills to solve.
Question: What are each of these numbers associated with in the game?
5, 10, 15, 20, 25....
13
31
48
108
999
Despotus
08-22-2005, 06:15 AM
That is tough, man! You sure we don't need math skills for this? :p
Anyway, what the hey, I'll take a stab:
5, 10, 15... that's the toughest one IMHO, I guess it's the Lvl, Exp, CT, or height you can hit with a math skill multiple of 5? Or it could be the progressive accumulation of Brave pts you get from using Cheer Up over and over.
13, the number of Zodiac Stones.
31, Rafa's orginal Brave score, Malak's original Faith, or (Most likely what you were looking for) the number of Treasures you can win from the Propositions.
48, the number of different Monster classes (Not including Demons and Apandas).
108, the number of beads in the accessory '108 gems'.
999, max damage or max h.p. (and I imagine you could also max a character's m.p. to 999).
Close enough?? :erm:
BG-57

Question: What is the first story-battle in which you can use the Battle Dictionary?
Despotus
08-30-2005, 06:13 AM
You're welcome. :)
I'm just guessing here. I know that dictionaries are sold at Trade cities and the first one of those is Dorter. So if you can buy dictionaries at Dorter in Ch.1 (the part I'm not sure about), then the Zeklaus Desert story battle (Sand Rats Cellar or Cellar of the Sand Mouse  ) is the first battle where you could use a dictionary??
RedCydranth
08-31-2005, 08:29 PM
The problem with that is that they don't sell dictionaries until chapter 2. Like Longbows at Igros.
So My answer is the 1st batle of chapter 2.

Indeed he does, however thats chapter 3 if I remember correctly and you can have oracles equip them before that. But you are right in thats the first battle where on is used manditorily.

BG-57

You need Mustadio for the many cutsecenes in Goug Machine City that occur during this subquest and there's one right before the new rumors that appear in Goland Coal City, which lead to Beowulf and Reis. So I'll give this one to RedCydranth.

What is the samurai sword(katana) that a samurai can't use(draw out)?
Despotus
10-04-2005, 02:30 PM
You're quite welcome, brother. I always try to be helpful...
 I think this sounds like a trick question, so I'll go with an obvious (but tricky) answer. A samurai cannot Draw Out the sword he carries in his hand (Or any other Katanas that are equipped by your characters). Is that what you were looking for?
greymon138
10-04-2005, 02:43 PM
Hmm...
Do you mean that if a samurai equips a masamune, then he can't Draw Out a Masamune? Your answer is quite wrong, but near to the answer.
And also...
I can't open the link you gave. It says that there is no existing file. Why does that happen? I tried navigating gamefaqs, and I can't find Mr. Elmor the Elf.
Masamune·1600
10-04-2005, 04:30 PM
All katanas can be used in Draw Out, excluding the following situations:
1. A particular katana has not yet been acquired
2. All katanas of one type (Chirijiraden, for example) have been equipped to the party, and there are thus none of that type in the inventory
3. The necessary JP for a Draw Out ability has not yet been amassed/applied
None of the Proposition Treasure swords is a katana (including the Magi-Sword), and neither are any of the ninja swords, so I'm going to assume that situation (3.) is what you were looking for.
Despotus
10-04-2005, 04:49 PM
Hmm...
Do you mean that if a samurai equips a masamune, then he can't Draw Out a Masamune? Your answer is quite wrong, but near to the answer.
Close, I meant that if you equip the only Masamune in your inventory, then you won't be able to draw that Masamune. You can't Draw Out the very same Katana that is in your (or any other characters') hand. That one is the Katana you can't Draw Out.
I can't open the link you gave. It says that there is no existing file. Why does that happen? I tried navigating gamefaqs, and I can't find Mr. Elmor the Elf.
Sorry that you're having trouble. Cut and paste the link into your http: bar. You'll have to remove the letters "http://" or they will double. Start with "db.gamefaqs...etc." and just hit enter. If you can't get it to work, go to gamefaqs, search by title "Final Fantasy Tactics" and go to FAQ's, the list is under "Relics FAQ" by Elmor the Elf. Good luck! ;)
greymon138
10-05-2005, 12:00 PM
Well, the samurai can still Draw Out the katana that he haven't learned yet. So I can say that that is the right answer.
And also, even though you only have one masamune and equip it, if you remove it, you can still draw out that sword.
I will give a hint to this answer:
Hint: Are you sure that there exist a sword that a samurai can't draw out?
Despotus
10-05-2005, 05:26 PM
...even though you only have one masamune and equip it, if you remove it, you can still draw out that sword...
Good point! I guess I had never thought of taking the katana out of your hand during battle, and then using Draw Out. :rolleyes2 Oops!
However, if you're in a battle (where you can only bring 5 characters), and want to Draw Out the only Murasame in your inventory, you had better hope it isn't equipped in the hand of another Samurai that you decided to leave out of the battle (one of the other 11 characters sitting on the bench). There is an Equip Change skill, but there is no Soldier Change skill (Hmmm...wouldn't that be a cool skill, though?... 8-) )
I guess every Katana (eventually) can be used for Draw Out, as long as you spend Jp to buy the Draw Out skill, and you buy, find, or steal at least one of that Katana. ;) But I think this really is a trick question!
greymon138
10-09-2005, 01:13 PM
Yep, you got it! In conlusion, all the katanas can be used with Draw Out.
Masamune1600's answer is nearly right. But then he concluded that you can't draw out a katana if you don't have enough jp. That is not the answer I want.
Well, you got it Despotus. Its your turn.
And also Despotus...
I have opened the guide you gave. That guide is great!! I haven't known those items like Nagrarock, Zorlin Shape etc. What I only know is Ragnarok, Excalibur, Save the Queen, Masamune, Genji Genji Genji, and.... whatever. Thanks for that guide! Can't think of a tough one right now, so here's a pretty simple question. Which Punch Arts will not effect Worker 8? :sophia:
BG-57
10-10-2005, 01:37 PM
I'm going to go with Stigma Magic, since it works like Esuna and it has the name magic in the title and spells can't hit Worker 8 since he's Innocent (a Faith of 0).
greymon138
10-10-2005, 01:45 PM
For me, its not just stigma magic. Chakra and Revive also don't work on worker 8(I think.).
BG-57
10-10-2005, 01:48 PM
Chakra and Revive are based partly on terrain. For example, if you stand next to a fallen ally and try to use Revive it will only work if the vertical height of the panels are the same.
EDIT: Oh wait, can there be more than one answer here?
Despotus
10-10-2005, 01:53 PM
Yes, there are more than one answer. But, so far, Stigma Magic is a correct answer. Chakra and Revive work just fine on Worker 8. ;)

Hmm...Secret Fist?
greymon138

Question: In the game Teta features in one battle.

2) Why is she treated like a guest character in this battle?
3) In what way is she not like a typical guest character?
greymon138
10-10-2005, 02:37 PM
1. She has stars when dead(always dead)
2. Because her job is Delita's Sis
3. She can't be revived
I think these are wrong... but just a try.....
BG-57
10-10-2005, 03:21 PM

greymon138
10-10-2005, 03:27 PM
hmm.......
because she is not an enemy, but a friend of ramza. (just a guess.....)
Azure Chrysanthemum
10-10-2005, 03:51 PM
I believe in addition to what greymon has already said, the correct answer is that the stars appear above her body instead of the numbers, so that she cannot turn into a crystal. That happens only to guests and a select few enemies, namely Boco in the Wiegraf fight and the attackers in the Orbonne fight at the beginning of the game.
Qurange
10-10-2005, 04:00 PM
For #2, since the others are taken well enough...
She's treated as a Guest so that she doesn't turn to crystal. If she turned to crystal, her body couldn't shield Delita.
EDIT: Also, they probably wanted to preserve the illusion that she might not really be dead, for dramatic tension. ...But probably not, because Delita, rather than trying to revive her, heal her, whatever, flew off the handle at Algus. I don't blame him. Algus was a jerk. (That's his most redeeming feature.)
BG-57
10-11-2005, 01:00 AM
I'll give this one to Qurange since I was looking for the reason why the game didn't want her to turn into a crystal: so she would be in the next scene after the battle.

Question: In the game, two awesome Holy Knights of awesome join (and leave, too, but we try not to talk about that) your party--one of whom you later have the option of controlling. Noting that only pure-class (No Holy Swordsman or anything) Holy Knights count:
1) Name them, first and last.
2) Tell which stays in your party
3) As a bonus, give their zodiac signs.
Despotus
10-13-2005, 05:54 AM
1. Delita Hyral and Agrias Oaks (Although Delita doesn't become a Holy Knight until later in the game, Chap. 2 I think)
2. Agrias will eventually stay with the party.
3. Delita's sign is Sagitarius, and Agrias' sign is Cancer.

Chantage
Setiemson
Salty Rage
Cherche
Escutcheon (II)
Javelin (II)
As for cost, can't you just take their resale prices and multiply them by two?

That's the right way to figure out the selling prices for the items. But you've only got 4 of 6 of the items right. "II" of those items would be real bargains, at only 400 and 1000 gil respectively. (*Big Hints*)

Setiemson
Salty Rage
Cherche

All would set you back a cool 60,000 Gil.

Some uninvitable monsters classes are essentially repaints of each other in appearance.
Question: What are two pairs of such monsters?
Azure Chrysanthemum
10-19-2005, 03:55 AM
Demons and Byblos, I believe it is.
Despotus

Just in case you're looking for specifics (pairs of monster species), Archaic Demons and Ultima Demons are one pair; and Apandas and Byblos are another.

:greenie: Allrighty then...
Aeris is selling flowers in Zarghidas Trade City to pay off a debt that she and her mother owe to a local group of thugs, right? How many flowers would she have to have sold in order to have paid the debt in full? (If Cloud and Ramza hadn't shown up and pwned the thugs big-time...):twak:
greymon138
10-20-2005, 02:50 PM
1,000,000 or one million flowers, because i think she owed one million. That's what I remembered, but I'm not sure....
EDIT: How can you put words below your usernames? I certainly want to have one below my username.
Despotus
10-20-2005, 03:27 PM
You're on the right track, greymon, but the amount of the debt is waaaaaaaay off.
To change your User Title: Go to User CP (Control Panel) above, then click on Edit Profile (to the left on the Control Panel screen), one of the first options on the Edit Profile screen is 'Custom User Title', type in (almost) whatever you want there. :) ...Might I suggest "Despotus' #1 Fan" or something equally flattering???

You are still far away from the correct amount of Aeris' debt. And you have to go to "Edit Profile" on the control panel before you can make any changes to your User Title.;)

Reference is made to a debt of 30,000 gil, so Aeris would have had to sell 30,000 flowers.
greymon138, Custom User Titles only become available after one has been a member for eight months.

What was the name of the device used to summon Cloud, and where specifically in Goug was it found?
Despotus
10-25-2005, 07:37 AM
Ramza called it a Heavenly (or Celestial) Globe, and Besrodio said he built it from stuf found at Drift (or Mine) #83 in Goug.
Question: (I can't recall if we've done this one already... oh well... I'm a little desperate for a decent question right now!):p Which two "miracles" did Ramza & co. perform with the help of the Cancer stone?
BudSoda02
10-25-2005, 02:19 PM
You revive Malak or rather Rafa does and bring worker 8 into this world.
Am I right or on the right track. If I'm on the right track tell me which answer is.

EDIT: OK, I thought of a question.
Question: What are four different ways to get dragons to join your party?
Despotus
10-27-2005, 01:09 AM
1. Use the Mediator skill 'Invite'. (Monster talk is necessary too if you are a class other than Mediator)
2. Lower a Dragon's hp to critical with the Mediator support skill 'Train' equipped. (I'm pretty sure a physical attack is needed, or even a physical counter attack)
3. Use Reis' Dragoner skill 'Dragon Tame'.
4. (It might be a bit of a stretch, but...) When you complete the Colliery Underground missions, the Holy Dragon will join the party.
I think it may also be that a Green Dragon joins the party as a guest, but I can't remember which mission...:rolleyes2

Geez, I'm a little late with this so I am sorry Masamune.:eep: But I just noticed that the "celestial globe" does have a name, the "Transmission Machine". So sorry I jumped the gun a little.;)
Anyway, here comes my question.
A temple is a shrine, as we all know. What other definition for "temple" is given in the game?

A big deal is made out of the way Tidus teaches Yuna to whistle in FFX.
Question: Where does something like that happen in Tactics?
Azure Chrysanthemum
10-28-2005, 04:00 PM
The reed whistle is significant in a scene between Delita and Ramza during a flashback, it shows something they did when they were young that Balbanes taught them to do. Later on, Ramza teaches Ovelia how to do it during the brief time when he was protecting her.

Final Fantasy Tactics is generally a rather serious game. However, there is one action ability, learnable by a normal class, that is obviously rather humorous in name. What is this ability and what does it do?

Is it the Mediator's Mimic Darovan? It puts the enemy to sleep by imitating the long-winded lectures of Professor Darovan. Pretty much everyone can relate to that.

If you note the chapel in Orbonne monastary you'll see an icon shaped like a 'T'. It appears in at least one other place in the game.
