Okay, I'm pretty lost.

http://www.customize.org/details/33626

Basically, I want my Win XP desktop to look like that. But I can't. I download BlackBox 0.09 and I copy the files over from the Ok Computer style, I overwrite the existing BlackBox style, and then it no longer loads and I get an error (probably having to do with the overwrite).

Anyone familiar with BlackBox, or can anyone point me to a shell app that works for those who aren't programing geniuses? I particularly like the Mac look of the launch bar (as seen in the link above at the top of the picture)

I tried it, and in theory, the ok_computer file goes in the styles dir, the .ttf file in the fonts dir, and menu.rc and blackbox.rc in the root dir (all that relative to your blackbox dir). BUT, it seems the style isn't all that it looks like: no background image, the docker is an external program/plugin (<a href="http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=2790">here</a>), and the path in the backbox.rc file links to a non existing file/dir. Also, he doesn't use the regular blackbox, but <a href="http://xoblite.net/files/bbwinskin11.zip">BBWinSkin</> instead.

blackbox is for Linux. Use Linux. :(

I know PG tried to run that Windows rip-off of blackbox and it gave him all sorts of problems, like preventing various programs from loading.

My knoppix 3.6 boots to kde by default, which looks exactly like a standard kde desktop to me, and not like some fancy eyecandy improement.

http://www.astonshell.com/

It screws up any icon customizations you had if you ever feel the need to go back to the explorer GUI.

Thanks everyone. I'll look into your links, Endless. And if that doesn't work, I'll use Astonshell, Yams.
