New versions of Firefox make me sad. Every single new version breaks all the themes that were made for older versions. They need to make it easier to write/update themes.

I use Mozilla, haven't gotten Firefox yet though. But maybe I shall try it out. A change of pace is always good.

I read that Firefox was the source of the aids virus.
Now where did I read that? Oh yeah, the line above this one :D

Seriously, stop all orgasming over Firefox. If people want to use IE, then let them and leave them alone. Because it upsets me and I may or may not have the full political force of Newt Gingrich behind me. And you don't want to take that risk, do you?

I say we ban IE support from EoFF. So next time you guys complain that you got spyware on your computer, we won't help you.

I second Yams' approval. Or, at the very least, make a huge banner ad for Firefox that only appears in IE.

That amuses me for some reason. I have the feeling I didn't get enough sleep last night.

Gah....my theme doesn't work any more, and the update site is overloaded! I have to use the normal theme...
Still better than Internet Explorer, though!

I like Slimbrowser better, even though it's just a shell of IE. None of the flash applications ever runs on Mozilla, and it's a bit slow to load up pages. So I don't bother with it anymore.

Exactly. I've upgraded once and I still regret losing the Phoenity Neo theme.

Java works very crappily, I can't use alot of websites properly with it, and it makes my music skip...plus its slow as hell.

The only thing I like is blocked popups and tabs. Everything else is crap.

I still get spyware even with Firefox, just better and smarter spyware. Apparently.

Anyway, everytime I upgrade it forgets my favourites and messes them around and replaces all my good ones with porn. Oh wait. My bad. :upsidedow

I only use firefox because of those funky mouse gestures. They come in handy for fat lazy people like me :spin:

That's generally how I do things...

Windows: IE, Mozilla, Firefox
Mac: Netscape
Linux: Firefox, Opera

I only have one Mac and it's my laptop...and it always breaks. In fact, it's broken now. *kills it*

Don't make me mod whore on you and hit the warn button 45 times :P

Seriously though why make a thread about it? Its advertised everywhere, its even in some national and international newspapers? I know firefox is good but in reality it is still only a browser. If your going to do this why not make a new thread everytime a new version of IE, Windows or Linux is released? Why not just do General Chat and Help a favour and make a damn'd Install Firefox and burn Windows forum?

Ok so maybe I'm being a bit harsh and probably deserve banning or a warning for this post but it annoys the hell out of me, its not even a notice telling of us a security hole its just advertising and repetitiveness, I'll stop talking now because I'm sure if I keep going I'm gonna get banned and I can't have that happen before I've sorted out rigging the ciddies so I lose :P

I mean, who wants to run Ad-Aware or Spybot and get 0 results found? That's boring. Besides, Firefox blocks all of my porn popups.

And speaking of spam, I need to get rid of Thunderbird and go back to Outlook Express. Thunderbird eats all of my penis enlargement, Viagra, and Cialis ads.

See, Baloki, what you're missing is that the people trying to push it are all nerds or geeks or whatever. (or most of them, at least.) If it's not for computer elitism, we have nothing to brag about. Seriously. Don't take this away from us...just ignore it.

How can I ignore it when its shoved down my throat in every help thread post and now it invades my General Chat safe haven, I use Firefox, I know its advantages and I know it to be a damn'd good browser, I just don't see the point of 102 threads expressing this fact, I really don't...

Dude, get hotmail.

The reason Firefox is being pushed is because with enough people using it, it will become a big enough threat that Microsoft will actually do something about their crummy browser. Right now, IE7 or whatever is slated for release in late 2006. Plus, if we can show that open source software can be competitive with a huge giant like MS, then maybe MS will start taking their OS seriously too.

There's one active Firefox thread in all the forums here.

Ah, but there are still the great, unredeemed masses who blindly follow Micros~1's lead into the Abyss. It is to save our poor downtrodden brothers that we must fight, with all our might!

We will fight in the chatrooms, we will fight on the forums, we will fight on instant messengers, and fight in online games. We shall fight in the papers, fight on bumper stickers and coffee mugs...

Thats because no-one has posted anything about a problem in IE for the last couple of days which is actually a thankful relief as they won't have to put up with a lack of help as people just tell them to forget their problem and switch to firefox.

Nobody has posted it because on the average, IE is pretty well behaved. It's only when you try to make it do things it doesn't know how (like display a webpage with floating images) that it explodes into a cankerous yellow fizzie drink :D

I use IE and I don't get my Spyware from it. I get it from my moron...idity of using MIRC and Kazaa-lite. MIRC when I was more of a noob when using and Kazaa just because you can't always be certain of every video file or music file you download and I am too lazy to check every single one of them.

What the hell do you people do to get so spyware ridden?

Which is nice, because at work, if anybody has a problem and isn't using IE, I have to tell them that it's not supported and they HAVE to use Microsoft's festering piece of sewage.

It's nice to actually be able to speak truth once in a blue moon.

And yes I agree its nice to see people suggest firefox every so often but 4 people to rant and rave about it in every thread about IE and tottally ignore the posters problem isn't very nice and unluckly I hate to break it to you guys but switching to firefox isn't always the be all and end all in fixing problems.

Citizen Bleys

Actually, it kind of is. 99% of browser problems exist only in IE

Flying Mullet
11-10-2004, 03:37 PM
Yams summed up what I was going to say quite nicely. I like pushing Mozilla not because it's superior but because if they get enough market share of internet browsers then Microsoft will be forced to make quality enhancements to IE. Microsoft has become complacent in the last few years because Netscape pretty much died and they had no competition.

Like it or not new releases of Firefox benefit all because it forces all browser parties involved to improve their browser.

That's because 90% of the problems won't be an issue with installing and using Mozilla, which takes about 10 minutes, or we can go through a convoluted process of updating settings in Windows, getting updates to software or reinstalling pieces or all of the operating system. Yeah, we say use Mozilla but that's also because it's the easiest fix nine times out of ten.
