I'm talking, specifically, about actors and actresses that have played God in one way or another on the big screen. Which do you consider the best, or your personal favorite?

To jog your memories so that you don't have to think too hard, here's a few suggestions you might not otherwise think of...

Alanis Morrissette - Dogma
George Burns - Oh, God!
Morgan Freeman - Bruce Almighty
Val Kilmer - The Prince of Egypt
Charlton Heston - The Ten Commandments
Trey Parker - South Park

As far as I remember Alanis Morissette was great as God in Dogma... She's my favourite.

All the different manifestations of God from Joan of Arcadia. There's too many to list, but my favorite is "Cute Guy God" :)

God from Bro'Town is pretty cool. A tall, hard Samoan guy with long greying hair. That show is animated, but I don't remember which actor voiced God. Someone from the comedy team known as 'The Naked Samoans', anyway.

Unless you live in NZ you'll have never heard of this programme.

However, Morisette was pretty good as God in Dogma. That movie is brilliant on so many levels.

George Burns in <i>Oh, God!</i> That could just be because he played alongside John Denver, though.

I liked God in Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail. But that's just me.

:D :P

Charlton Heston didn't play God in The Ten Commandments, from what I know. God had about 4 or 5 lines in whole the movie, and I don't know who said them.

According to imdb.com, Charlton Heston receives credit for both Moses and the voice of God, so he counts.

Does the guy who played the architect in The Matrix Reloaded count?

Other than that Morgan Freeman Bruce Almighty.

Morgan Freeman. Why does God hafta be a white guy? most of the world isn't white. I think God looks like an Ancient Egyptian. whatever they looked like... I guess tanned skin, big eyes and a slight kegger belly.

and God from Monty Python and the Holy grail. I think that was John Cleese, though I'm probably wrong.

I've never seen Bruce Almighty, but Morgan Freeman would make a great God.
