I like The Cure. I'm not familiar with the Smiths.

Nightwish has nothing in common with "goth" bands. They are symphonic / power metal, it's written all over them.

I think it's really funny to see how back in the day, The Cure was considered THE goth rock group, singing catchy love songs that keep getting covered in Adam Sandler movies. Now you've got Marilyn Manson, singing anti-Christian and anti-government anthems. Times have changed.

I always have a hard time classifying groups. I know I like Lacuna Coil a WHOLE lot though. KoRn as well.
I'm on a Mindless Self Indulgence kick right now though so I haven't listened to much of those two.

Old goth was actually a bit sinister. These days they try too hard and end up looking rather silly.

Don't you dare classify Metallica as being a goth band. They're far from it.

Anyway, the only 2 goth bands that I actually wouldn't mind listening to is Evanescence and possibly the Cure. I think I've heard a song from the Cure, but I'm not completely sure.

I've never considered The Cure a goth band but nonetheless, they're one of my favorite bands. And SomethingBig, I don't believe Evanescence would like being called a goth band. According to some interviews, it's a bit of a pet peeve.

Sisters of Mercy weren't so bad back in the day. I enjoyed the Floodlands CD. Also, I enjoy a local Fresno band called The Shroud.

Yeah some of her stuff are goth rock.
I see, most of the stuff I've heard from her is more punkish.
The best she's "done" is Fieber together with Oomph! and Seemann together with Apocalyptica though.
