Maybe it's just me, but I think Heath Ledger would be a pretty good Irvine. Catherine Zeta-Jones as Edea? She has a great deal of presence...meh.

While Amy Lee is gorgeous, she totally the wrong shape for Rinoa. She'd have to lose a HELL of a lot of weight to get to that childish skinny runt look. I'd say Heath Ledger would be better off playing perhaps Laguna. Sly Stallone as Ward, dunno who I'd cast as Kiros.

ahem, I'll try to explain how I judge on their appearances.
It's simplicity itself. 2 keywords: smile & eye.
Matsu Takako - OK, their hair style's similar. But her smile's totally different. Enough! Out of my list.
Gackt - Did you notice his eye?? It grieves me, just like Squall!
Amy Lee - She looks like Ultimecia, no doubt.

All we're saying is that IF FF8 had been a live-action movie rather than a game, or if it were made into one, what actors look like the characters? I think Josh Hartnett has Squall's image on him. But he's too tall I guess? Jude Law can be suitable also, his cool looking and beautiful eyes matches Squall's image but he's blonde and eyes are blue.

Gwyneth as Quistis Trepe? Not agree. Gwyneth is just too soft and her charm was really different from Quistis's. I prefer Nicole Kidman or Julia Roberts? but they're already too old! Perhaps Kirsten Dunst is still suitable to take the role.

i think robin williams and seann william scott are perfect for the parts of cid and zell but not josh hartnett.

i have a friend at work who is the absolute spitting image of squall, except he isn't an actor.

as for selphie, she has to be the smallest actress in the world, selphie is only 5 feet 1 inches tall.

personally its best if we choose actors who around the collective ages of the game characters. for example shannon doherty is in her late twenties - far too old, same for gweneth paltrow. i think the best idea is to go for unknowns or little known actors instead of a-listers.
