Sleep music

I was reading something a long time ago about how playing certain types of music or sounds can help you sleep and can even put you out rather quickly. What music or sounds can do this for me? It was a thing on 20/20 so I think it states a specific type or something.

BJ always falls asleep watching South Park, so I've gotten used to that. I prefer just having a fan on though.

I typed "yoga" into KaZaA and downloaded a lot of yoga songs. They're very relaxing.

I can't sleep whilst listening to music - by body can't seem to cope with the extra noise.

I guess it's just what I'm used to.

Personally I can sleep through a bomb blast. I was at a friends a long while ago and opposite his house a car bomb went off (target was a branch of a bank it was an IRA job) I never woke up. But music wise I listen to anything I want nothing has stopped me sleeping before.

I can't seem to fall asleep with music playing. I always end up singing along or moving to it. :P

I've fallen asleep listening to everything from chillout to punk. Music tends to stop you from 'thinking too much', which tends to be the thng that keeps you awake. As long as you can lose yourself in the song, listening almost subconsciously, it should help you fall asleep.

i fall asleep to final fantasy soundtracks, braveheart soundtrack, lotr. anything that has no lyrics, otherwise you get involved in singing along in your head and you can't sleep.

my friend likes to put on a movie to send her to sleep. it's a good idea coz watching movies makes you sleepy (anyone else ever noticed that?) and when you're tired enough you can close your eyes and the tv will switch itself off (god bless the inventor of the sleep timer!)

Yeah, Dark Side is always good for going to sleep to. If I start playing it while trying to sleep, I don't often get past Us and Them.

Enya easily puts me to sleep. There is also some techno stuff that does the trick.

Yeah, I'd have to aggree that I fall asleep faster when I'm listening to Floyd. I personally prefer listening to Meddle...the only really loud part is when he's screeching the guitar at the end of Echoes, but I'm far gone by then.

Other than that, the best way to fall asleep is to take a hit right before you go to bed. (But don't forget to brush your teeth too!:))

All thouse sound things with water or creek or river or whatever. They all sound to similar to someone taking a piss to put me to sleep. -_-; And the ones with birds only aggravate me and wish I had a gun to shoot them with.

Enya is good to sleep to and I've fallen asleep to Pink Floyd quite a few times. Good stuff. I like listening to the theme song from Braveheart. That always makes me feel calm and tired.

Here are the two playlists I use when trying to sleep (Instrumental2 more often, as I rarely feel like music with vocals when I sleep). Basically calm, quiet music. I also have a Dreamer list (and an Instrumental list) which includes some faster or more upbeat music, such as more Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams, Nightwish or something. But yeah, hooray. Instrumental2 is also great for when I have a nasty headache, like now. :(

:) As long as I'm not playing it, Final Fantasy music is quite relaxing to go to sleep to. Usually I listen to some background TV, usually some anime I like. Hmm... Thinking about it makes me sleepy ^^ I need to find some way to wake up. Luckily I have my MP3 player handy, so it'll get better momentarilly.

Hmm....most of the time, I can't fall asleep listening to music, if I'm really hyper, but the other day, it was 12:00 and I couldn't fall asleep, so I popped in the Lord of the Rings soundtrack, and played "May it Be" over and over again. That really helped. I think anything slow, would be good. Silverchair's "Diorama", I've found, is also a very good cd to fall asleep to.

for me, it needs to be something pleasant that's not interesting enough to keep you awake. For example, if I listen to my favorite CD, I wouldn't be able to sleep because I'd be staying up listening to it. LOL. I suppose classical works pretty well or jazz.
