I beat the game for the first time tonight.

I managed to send both my parties down the chandelier- if there is a way to get them back up, I haven't found it. As a result, I went in to Ultimeca without GFs, items, or a save past the entrance.

Also, I approached with the party I wanted to finish with, Squall, Riona, and Quistis. I did not anticipate the rest of my (unequipped) party showing up, and Ultimeca deciding who to fight.

I did get somewhat lucky- Quistis, Riona, and Irvine were selected, meaning I had two equipped characters. I was able to keep the three on their feet for the most part, though Irvine needed life spells from time to time- however, his pulse ammo was very useful (I hadn't tried it yet).

Eventually, Irvine went down and disappeared into time. Squall took his place, and Ultimeca's griever hybrid form died. I thought I won, and then that final form rose up. When she died again, I didn't trust it until the ending started. (At which point I was glad to find Irvine wasn't perma-dead.)

That ending was mean. I couldn't concentrate on half of it because I didn't know if Squall died! I did enjoy it however, it was much more comprehensive than VII's.

I was suprised Seifer survived. That little clip with Fujin and Rajin was nice, though I wonder if he suffered any repricussions for, you know, trying to bring about the end of the world and what-have-you.

I was worried during the credits that Squall's fate would simply not be revealed. Now that I know it turned out OK, I'll have to redo Ultimeca's castle (and unlock the other abilities, and prepare better), so I can enjoy the ending.

There's nothing quite like finishing a great game for the first time. What was your first time finishing the game like?

To the left of the chandelier is a door which goes down a long hallway which will pop you back out at where you fought Sphinxara.

I think. I haven't played in a while. Congrats on beating the game.

I personally found the ending very confusing. But now I don't think there's much to understand anyway. If you follow the R=U theory, then there are split seconds of FMV which support it. If you're not, then just regard it as Squall having one doped up dream. I did really like the camcorder playing through the credits and the kiss afterwards. Very cute.

The first time I finished the game, I went to get dinner during the part with Edea and came back to find out that the talking does not pause the game in the ending.

The ending is representative art. Watch some late night movies on any french channel and you'll see some more examples.

I also Just watched the game ending, having accedently deleted my disk 4 save previously and hav been banned from playing!

after watching it i felt kinda empty. (i always do). The ending is so definate and a sad kinda cut off. It felt weird 2 c seifer chilling in balamb. His ass shud be thrown into jail !!

all in all I enjoyed the game and thought it would be seiously cool if they redid all the games 4 ps2 and elongated them slightly. lol

There's a couple of ways to get around here...right after you fall off of it...there's a door on the ground, it's normally locked, but the Chandeilier broke the door, so you can get in, fight Elemental Boss Creature "Tri-Point" here, and un-seal whatever you desire, then head back up...head through the door in the back, and keep going until you get to the Bridge, then WALK across, and pick up the Key, then head back to the Chandeiler Room, head to the left and out the door, until you're back in the Main Hall, go to the doors in the middle, if your other party is still at the Party Switch Point in the Chandilier Room, go through the doors, and you can safely cross the Chandilier...go through the doors to find Ice Elemental Boss Creature "Krystal", kill it and un-seal another power....then go back into the Main Hall, then head through the doors to the left, ignore the Bell for now, and go through the doors...examine all the paintings in this room, then examine the Large Painting, the answer to the puzzle is "In the GARDEN SLEEPS a MESSENGER", and once the correct title is selected, you have a visitor... turn around to fight Basic Boss Creature "Trama" Un-seal another ability, then move on, heading down the stairs in the next room, walk into the door on the top-left, and take the Prison Key, upon doing so, Buba...er...Red Giant will appear, destroy him and un-seal another Ability...Hint: His weakness is "Demi", which you can Draw from him for an easy win.. Now exit the room, and inspect the lever to your right, you'll use the Key you found before to unlock it, then use it again to pull it.
Head across the bridge to the door on the right, and open it, there's a hidden Ultima Draw Point here, as well as another Boss Creature...you'll want to hit this one hard.

There might be some errors in there, but I don't have my Playstation at this time...there are more bosses, but I'm not posting them now...tell me if you want the last ones told.

gah! you people say you know ffVIII!

k they go into time compression and the only way for them to apear back in reality is to think of somewhere, some place.

Squall doesn't know where to think, so he lands up nowhere. Rinoa thinks fo thier promise and goes to edea's garden but squall isn't there. The feather from the start, rinoa sends to squall.

Next FMV. squall remembers the promise but now can't remember what rinoa looks like (holes in her face, blurred). He never remembers what she looks like and goes through his memory trying to find rinoa.

All he remembers is edea's garden, but not the same time as rinoa, the same time as 'sis' left. The big connection.

from there on we dont know how but somehow squall makes it back to the same time with everyone else and they celebrate!

I'm sure he's quite sorry for his Human mistake of not being perfect.
I'm also sure he'll get right on kissing your feet, "God".

:rolleyes2

No need for that, Xxiawakin.

The first (and only) time I beat the game I didn't have much trouble. I've gotten to the end a few times but started playing something else and forgot to beat it. I liked the ending so I'm glad I finnally got around to it. The whole 'everything is locked out in Disc 4' thing kind of got on my nerves.
