FFVII. Although I like VIII as a game very much, I don't think it fits into the series so it ties behind the other FFs for me.

Final Fantasy 8!! I love the 8 battle system. In my eyes, the plot is at least equal to 7's even though most people don't agree with me. (8's characters and character development were the best)

I like FFVIII more. Not to say FFVII is bad at all, I just like FFVIII more.

I prefer 7 to 8 alot- mainly because the characters seemed better to me, the battle system and materia was alot more entertaining then junctioning(in my opinion) and im not one for romance like storys. 8 is certainly my second favorite out of the games i have played, but 7 is right at the top.

I'll go with VIII as well. No character felt really neglected, and both the story and mechanics are deep.

FFVII is in my opinion a better game, cause I hate the junction-sytem, it's quite annoying. But I can imagine that people like VIII more then VII, cause they hate the Materia-sytem.

i personally think it's ff7 but i think it's tied cause i equally like ff8<(don't own it but hopefully soon ff8) but ff7 is easier to understand yet ff8 is so hard to understand it makes it more challengeing yet on ff7 it's more interesting it's plot is in away...but the main characters are both equally popular almost..so who knows...i think it's tied...

jugue final fantasy 8 y comi un bebe.

How on earth do you manage THAT?

I don't think it's good to put this thread here. You know.... In the FF7 forum.... Just seems kinda out of place....

7..interesting plot, wide range of characters to work from, outstanding memorable moments and some events of 8 all seem purposely coincidental!

i like them both alot and they come very close but for me sephiroth just finished it off which makes FFVII the better for me.

I like VII much better. Better story, characters, side quests.

It's kind of impossible to answer this question, really. Which is better, apples or oranges? We're not talking about a crummy game versus a good game, we're talking about two Final Fantasies. Eight came right after seven, and has therefor to live in the shadow of one of the most famous games in existence. There are a lot of similarities between Squall and Cloud, and between FF8 and 7 (mercenaries, the gunblade an attempt to not make Squall slack after Cloud's buster sword, loners that have to take the world's fate into their hands...). But, let's face it, they are both sequels in the same series - which does tend to reuse themes and ideas (to great effect, in my opinion). As with something like apples and oranges, or what kind of music you like, or what kind of milk you drink (if any). It's really just up to preference - with the exception of things like 8's better cinema graphics and 7's better mini-games. None of those traits are enough to declare either a definite superior.
That said, I would like to add that my favourite between the two is Final Fantasy 8 - most likely because I didn't own 7 until after I had already done with eight (which wasn't entirely my fault - I was advised that I could get FF7 on a Nintendo 64, and consequently didn't get a playstation until the release of FF8. I now know how silly it was to think I could get FF on a 64 - you don't have to tell me).

I enjoyed both of these games a lot, but I think I enjoyed FFVII more than FFVIII because I liked the story line a little better. At the very end of VIII, I was very confused because of.... the ending. However as was stated previously they are both amazing games, good in parts and bad in parts. I have to admit that the gunblade was pretty sweet.

FFVIII was the beginning of the end for the FF series. I can't stand the game.

So yeah, FFVII's better.

I would definetly have to say Final Fantasy VII. Although I love all FF's, VII had the best of everything. :)

I'll have to go with FFVII, but FFVIII is still a great game; deeply involved with the story, and that's something I like.
