I'm going to go ahead and all that list complete and utter garbage.

Wow, a lot of that list REALLY sucks. How in the HELL did Britney Spears, and RAP make a top 100 songs list of all time. And I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston, is any song more annoying?

I could blast most of this list to pieces, but I'll stop... for now.

Gah! Terrible. Nothing good. At all. I fear for our society.

What ruined the list for me was that bitch, Eminem, being on it. In a perfect world, that wouldn't have shown up, and Insane Clown Posse's "Chicken Huntin'" (Slaughterhouse Remix) would be in the top 10.

I have #13, and #100 without looking.

Tracy Chapman song was good. Creep was good. London Calling was good. It's not all bad.

No one's gonna agree, everyone's got diff. tastes.

The list was compiled last year and doesn't consist of the most talented songs.

The list is decided on many factors, but the main factor is the test of time. Songs like Billie Jean and Lose Yourself don't require a lot of talent. Music isn't about talent, it's about expression. If it was about talent, the list would be full of classical composers.

The list depends on how popular the song is and how people like it. I try not to be too biased when it comes to songs and I respect many of the 100 songs VH1 posted, but obviously there are songs that I don't agree with. Like R.Kelly's I Believe I can Fly, how come that song isn't on the list? Or Elton John's Circle of Life? Eminem's Lose Yourself? Some songs are ranked too high or too low. But the songs are compiled based on numerous genres. It's like how someone mentioned rap being in the top 10, granted it's the least talented of any genre other than techno, but it's music. I'm sure many of you have heard a rap song that you just couldn't get out of your head. It's about how the song is expressed, and because many of us are not in the studios, none of us realizes how much effort is put into these rap albums. I always knew people like 2Pac and Eminem put a lot of hours into their music. Freestyle does not work in the music industry and they knew that. So please, don't bash a genre like that.

What the hell? There's only like two decent songs on there. Most of that doesn't isn't even music. And Pink Floyd's Another Brick in the Wall pt. 2? THey have many better songs than that. And they don't even have the most covered song of all time on there (Yesterday by the Beatles). Nor do they have Bohemian Rhapsody which is one of the most recognizable songs ever.

I'm going to go listen to the Doors now. (Rarg, they don't even have the Doors on there. >:O)

Wow, not a single Beatles song, but Hanson made the cut? Strange and also, slightly insulting.

Take care all.

I think only a few songs deserve to be on that list. I'm glad Eminem made the top five though.

Top 100 songs eh?

No Beatles.

No Led Zeppelin. (What about Stairway to Heaven?!?!)

No Rolling Stones

One Pink Floyd song, but that's an obvious pop culture one.

Okay, I respect VH1 withe their music knowledge but this is justa pile of poop.

(And they're refering to Run DMC's cover of Walk this Way, which in my opinion is better:))

Gimme a day or two and I'll have a few more, after being reminded of some of these songs. :p

I love how almost everyone assumes that their taste of music is the only taste of music. Like it or not, most of the songs should be on there as they are the songs that most people like. People who don't like that need to get over it.

Frankly I don't care that none of my music collection is included there. While I might consider a lot of those songs included to be rubbish I'm perfectly aware that most people don't, and I can accept that.

Plus, who cares what VH1 put in their most recent Top 100 list? It's just a dumb ratings-grabbing feature that they put out there as an alternative to playing random records twenty-four hours a day. Its not as though placing LL Cool J above the Ramones makes him a better musician, is it? Just don't let it get to you, and take solace in the fact that your music taste is the right one. :p

Rolling Stone didn't have a better list either.

The only Floyd song up there wouldn't be on that list if I had anything to say about it. And mostly everyone else sucks. Oh, and they put up Peter Gabriel, but no Genesis. :rolleyes2

The only one that I really liked that's on that list is Once In A Lifetime by Talking Heads. But that's number 55. :/

But, I don't really like VH1 anyways, so yeah.

I really dislike the lists that the Gay Men Making Fun of Pop Culture Channel puts out.

And yes, from now on I am calling it that.

I love how almost everyone assumes that their taste of music is the only taste of music. Like it or not, most of the songs should be on there as they are the songs that most people like. People who don't like that need to get over it.

Oh, I know these songs are popular and I know that (somehow) people enjoy them. I just think they're vomit-inducingly bad, for the most part.

I just want to remind some of you guys that this list was from last year and compiles the "best" songs from 1978-2003.

What I really don't understand is how they put Photograph ahead of the equally famous or bigger Def Leppard songs such as Armageddon It, Animal, Hysteria, Love Bites, Foolin', Tonight, Make Love Like A Man, Two Steps Behind, Gravity and particularly Rocket and Poor Some Sugar On Me and most importantly (the most famous and generally loved DL song), the great Rock of Ages. Photograph is equal with all that first lot.

It's obvious to be this is an American biased list. If it was done worldwide, the list would be VERY different.

How is there no Beatles, Led Zep, Queen. And how did do Eminem songs creep their way in?

Well, VH1 is an American music video station. But you have to remember, these were the top 100 songs within the past 25 years from 1978-2003, I don't think the Beatles made any songs past the early 70's.

Ah, that makes more sense. I thought that VH1 was actually compiling a list of the best songs of all time, not just during a given period of time.

Yeah, I'm not debating that. It's like LB said, it's what you're use to. Orchestras are one of the most difficult pieces of music ever to assemble, yet they get little to no credit at all as one of the great music pieces ever.

But I do agree with #2. Billie Jean is so hip.

That's a pretty terrible list. I don't see why artists like Nelly and Britney Spears, and Backstreet Boys are up there with arists like Van Halen, Talking Heads, and Eric Clapton.

Yeah, Bohemian Rhapsody would have been on there if the dates were different I suspect.

Most songs on there that I recognised I thought deserved at least a consideration. The only one that I really don't want up there is Missy Elliott, `Work It'' *shivers*
