The first time your at Figaro Castle, does anyone else find it amusing that the Matron says that Sabin looked so much like his father? Since their twins, wouldn't they both look like their dad? That always amuses me.

Not all twins look exactly alike. There are twins who were merely born together, and are not identical. They're called fraternal (or paternal, I forget which) twins as opposed to identical twins.

Yeah, as mentioned, there are two different types of twins; whether twins are identical are not depends on whether they came from the same fertilized egg (which would "split" into two, three, four, etc., having an effect on the number of children), or from two different fertilized eggs. I also forget the proper term for the second, non-identical type of twin, but Sabin and Edgar seem to fit into the latter category.

I think I heard somewhere they werent twins after all.I think Edgar called Sabin young brother once.

Yes, they were twins, and they were called "Fraternal" twins.

Edgar was the older of the two, because two children can't be born at exactly the same time. One must come first. Edgar may have been 10 minutes older than Sabin, or something like that.

Two types of twins, Identical and Fraternal. Fraternal, like Fraternity, because the two just kinda "hang out" in the womb, but they're not the same thing, and I think they even have two seperate placentas.

Therefore, Sabin may have looked like his dad and Edgar, not so much.

It has nothing to do with fraternities, other than the root word :p

Fraternal (the original word) means "relating to brothers"
not the clearest defintion, but it implies that they are regular siblings born at the same time, not identical.

Though that can be hard to determine viewing their sprites, their facial portraits definetly were different...

To be annoying I'm gonna have to mention that the Matron DIDN'T say that Edgar looked nothing like his father. For all you know, Terra might have become disinterested in the conversation and broke her off and left the room in utter disdain.

"Sabin looks so much like his father." *Terra spits on Matron and storms out* "..so does Edgar."

all it implies is that Sabin more closely resembled their father than Edgar did.

Identical twin or not, keep in mind that Sabin spent 10 years training while Edgar was sitting on the throne, so of course they would have a different build. Sabin has darker skin and lighter hair, but that might just be because he spent a lot of time outside.

And just because Matron said he looked so much like his father doesn't mean she was talking about his appearance. I always interpreted it as Sabin and his father having similar personalities.
