I haven't ever seen a movie darker or crazier than the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. The reason I have low hopes for this movie is because I have a feeling this movie will be weirder through more popularly weird methods. The best part about Willy Wonka was that it was weird in ways that weren't popular... They were weird ways...

From what I've seen, it doesn't look like this film represents what I see the original as. It was genius crazy and crazy genius, this movie looks like it's going to be easier and void of the experimental insanity that made the original great.

Just to clear things up, this movie is NOT a remake of the first movie. In fact, Tim Burton didn't even like the first movie.

This movie will be Burton's adaptation of the book and from what I hear, he intends to stick much closer to the darker, creepier elements of the book than the first movie did.

I've been excited about this film for ages now. Tim Burton is a brilliant director and Johnny Depp is a brilliant actor. People such as Helena Bonham Carter being in the movie doesn't hurt either :D
