First and foremost, this is by far one of the best games I have ever played. (going on 2 years) There are many reasons why you should PLEHY!

Storyline.
1)You are a humble peasant.
2)Your homeland is threatened.
3)You go to the closest city and find a master to teach you the ways of war.
4)After a while (Level5) You must seek out a specialist trainer, to become one of the 25 some odd classes available.
5)Learn the ways of battle by serving your realm and keeping them safe.
-PVE. Fighting the local monsters and demons, keeping them in check.
-Quests. Talking to the lords and ladies and asking if you can be of assistance. Usualy resulting in some named demon to slay or to learn os treason and the like. (Some are more cooler than others, my level 50 necro is on the quest to enter the local woodlands and kill crafted minion robot things a mad cabalist created and free his soul from an orb he used to power them before he was killed by them.)
-RVR. Defend your realm from other players (the hordes of Vikings, Britons, or Drunken Irish LEPRICHAUNS INCLUDED!)

6)At level 50 you sohuld realy be kicking arse, now tha main goal of the game is striktly RVR combat. Recently RVR has been revamped with the free New Frontiers downloadable expansion. Take castles keep and outposts with groups of players from your realm. Or take them back from those freaking overpowered vikings

After you reach 50 you can /level any of your existing charicters or brand newcharicters to 20. Don't worry, there is always enough action in the 20-25 battlegrounds (small n00b rvr area, 1 takable keep)

Monsters name will be colored depending on how strong they are compared to your level.

Gray = Very very weak, no problem killing them but no EXP or items either
Green = Pretty weak, you sohuld have no problem smiting them at all.
Blue = Fairly easy, will put up a struggle but you should kill them without too much downtime ifany at all.
Yellow = Your level, kinda tough but if your a good player you should be able to take it without trouble
Orange = If you get lucky or are just that uber you can get them, but be prepared for a fight
Red = Only the best charicters can take these guys, most people should hit the V key (sprint) and start booking it in the oposite direction or to a realm guard and ask them pretty please if they can save you.
Purple = Holy $#!7 will be your exact words when you encounter a purple con monster. It can be anywhere form 8-60 levels above you, know where you are and what monsters linger and you should be okay. Most areas only house monsters that are around a certain level. Closer to your realm strongholds you will find monsters level 0-10, on the distant side of the realm you will find monsters 45+ The middle of the realm is where you will do most of your hunting. There are also dungeons with specific monster levels in them, none of this "Kyle found a ladybug! it was level 99. Kyle died." stuff like in ff11 ;)

For more about this AWESOME game check out www.camelotherald.com There is so much I left out, look! look! look!

P.S. This mmorpg is soooooooo much better then ff11

Waiting for the vikings to take our keep, only 2 stealthers defending. I am fidst for lack of a better name.

Testimonials from players

I've downloaded the 7 day trial of Dark Age of Camelot. It's no wonder in every DaoC forum I read, or any comments made about this game, or any review about it, it always has good comments.

The gameplay is just amazing. Tomorow my 7 day trial expires... do I keep going?

The only thing that I'm a bit disapointed about are the graphics. They are out of date.

BUT... I just saw screenshots of the upcoming expansion Catacombs. OMG... better character customization and the characters and monsters look better.

A substantial amount of the players in DAOC came from EQ. There is nothing in EQ II that will make me and those other players go back. We simply do not like the format, and many of us really hate SOE (espically after SWG).

I think that Daoc will definately remain strong, especially with the release of catacombs. I am going to try eq2, but will more than likely stick with daoc.

Seems cool.
Ok, here's some questions for you tastey:
1) How much does this game cost? (I hope it's not too expensive)
2) How many classes are there?
3) You can customize and make your own characters, right? How many character settings are there?
4) Difficult level?
5) Size of world?

(like, 10 servers)

2)Hrm...<counts> 36 classes

3)Hair, face, height, armor type , armor color (With the Catacombs expansion you get a huge graphicc upgrade and can customize your charicters ALOT better.)

4)Leveling isn't TOO hard at all, you can level up to 10 in one night. In fact, I just did with my Heretic (Evil cleric)

5)Each zone is about the size of GTASA. There are....5 zones not including the dungeons and cities.

Shrouded isles

Hmmm... I may check out this game... what's the consequenses of dying in the game?

When you die you loose some experiance.

Then you can:

A) /release to go to your closest "BindStone" holy stones that you /bind to. When "releasing your corpse unto death" You loose a bit of your "constitution" stat and you get "rezz sickness". Rezz sickness lowers your charcters effectiveness by a set amount. Both of these can be cured for a very small fee by the local Healer (usualy next to bind stone) (Realy, most ingame costs are VERY reasonable.)

B) Have a cleric, heretic, friar, palidan, shaman, healer,(those two hibernian healers) Rezzerect you. You get rezzerection sickness and your power health and endurance are set to 1% and these can be fixed by "/sit" which pretty much lets your charicter take a break and rest a while. Your "constitution" is not effected and experiance loss suffers less this way also.

Sounds a bit complicated but it isn't.

Don't forgett! You can pick up a trail version and download the first expansion pack for FREE at www.camelotherald.com (good server for n00bs is merlin, lots of other noobs to group with)
