Tifa Tifa Tifa was voted out with 27% in Round 2 unfortunately! I was sure she would at least outlast Aeris and Yuffie and Red XIII but I guess not! Well Round 3 starts with the remaining 7 characters including Yuffie the underdog and Barrett most vulnerable! She was booted after not even leading until the remaining day! disapointed...and theres no twists for this poll unlike my X-2 one but lets begin the round!

That's not true. Yuffie had the second most votes last round and she's doing fine on this one. It's possible for Barret or Aeris to survive next round if they stay.

Well above people have given some reasons... anywhere from she is annoying to she is a weak character.

As for being weak... she is a spell caster so her physical attacks of course would be weaker. Which is why I tend to dislike her... at least in combat. Of course this game isn't exactly hard so taking a relitively weak character(weak for those of us who love physical abilities) who is mostly for support doesn't really hurt you. But for support I prefer to use someone with more physical abilities... after since the game ain't hard you don't need as much support as Aeris supplies... then again that may be my playing style. Also she isn't long ranged.. which isn't good for a character weak in defense and hp.

Well I attempted to explain my reasons for disliking her more then the others... Barret can at least help kill monsters at a reasonable pace.

As for the annoying comment... I personally didn't find her annoying so I really can't answer why people feel that way.

Aeris is not useless. Her limit breaks are great. Free Healing, and sometimes invincibility. Seal Evil is the only offensive limit break she has, and it's easy to get it. The official guide suggests you use it on certain bosses, the best example being the Turks in Gongaga. Also, if you score 5000 points in the Speed Arena at Gold Saucer, they give you the umbrella for Aeris, which is stronger than her ultimate weapon, the Princess Guard. She's about as strong as Cloud with it, except there are no materia slots on it.

I like Yuffie, so I'd hate to see her go. But, since the characters from Midgar are losing, I hope she goes.

Aeris was the most useless character in the game. In the first disc, you didn't need all of her healing capabilities. Nor did you need her magical abilities, which would have been of more use later in the game. She was hopelessly weak in battles.

Outside of the actual game issues, she was also nigh a slut. She was constantly throwing herself at Cloud and acted on whim rather than rational thought.

~ On disc one I use a party of Tifa, Aerith and Cloud. Aerith and Tifa because they are my favourite characters and Cloud because I have to. Aerith becomes almost as strong with physical attacks as Tifa is as disc one progresses and eventually surpasses her with them.

I think Aerith is useless to you Raistlin because you refuse to use or even see her potential. It is of course within your rights to do so but don't be surprised if your opinions that she is useless and that your own healing methods are more effective in battle if you think that are met with disbelief ;)

Aerith has the potential to become one of the strongest, most versatile characters on disc one and if used properly soon starts to realise that potential and strengthens it more and more depending on how long the player wants to spend on disc one.

Tifa is strong yes but as much as I like her, her looks, character and personality I still have to admit that she isn't as versatile and whatever she can do damage wise with her limits Cloud, Cid, Barret can do better. I think Yuffie might be able to eventually too since her some of her limits hit more times than Tifa's chain but I'm not certain of that :) Whatever she can do with healing skills and magic Aerith, Yuffie, Vincent and Cait Sith can do better. Tifa also doesn't have very good stats apart from speed. She has a high strength but there are other characters that have higher and she has high speed which is good, even I have to admit that is something she has in advantage over Aerith since Aerith's speed stat is atrocious ( I think only Barret has the potential to be slower :p) However Aerith has better magic ( useful for taking out whole groups of enemies with ease) magic defence ( even though that doesn't matter since at GameFAQs it is said that magic defence is broken and has no effect in FFVII due to a bug but the amount of damage taken by magic is determined by spirit instead) spirit, vitality and magic points. Yes her strength is lower than Tifa's but by equipping her with a weapon that has high attack power and removing her from the back row the damage that she deals comes very close to Tifa with basic physical attacks and eventually surpasses it thanks to the Umbrella and the Princess Guard. Especially the Princess Guard.

The Umbrella often surpasses the damage Tifa does because it has a high critical attack to enemies rate but the Princess Guard has triple attack power :D

Now, now Raistlin don't exaggerate :p She only asks Cloud out once, only refers to the date again once in Midgar and then after Midgar she doesn't even have to be in your party so not much opportunity for her to romance Cloud there is there? ;) Then after that there is the date of course but having Aerith there is down to the player's actions so if Aerith appears there and the player doesn't want her it's the player's fault not hers :p ;)

Also you are not saying that not using rational thought makes one a slut are you? :o If you did then wouldn't you be calling other characters sluts too since other characters than Aerith had their irrational moments in the game? ;) Some even more so irrational than some of Aerith's.

For starters Aerith's limits are more versatile than Tifa's in the sense that unlike Tifa attacking isn't all that she can do. With Aerith there are choices. Aerith can cast offensive status spells, cast support status spells, cure status effects, revive allies, completely restore hit points and magic points, make everyone in the battle party invincible.

Aerith is able to do all that without the magic or item command *and* attack, use the magic and the item command and other commands that can be added to a character through the use of materia. One of the places where her ability to use the skills that she can before factoring in the magic, item and other commands is an asset is in the battle arena if the magic and item commands get broken, whereas other characters would be either be useless ( Cloud, Barret, Tifa, no way of healing) or quite limited in the healing ( Yuffie, better than the rest of them at healing apart from Aerith but is still limited to only one limit skill for healing, Red XIII able to absorb a small amount of hit points and magic points through a limit skill, Cid same as Red XIII, Vincent hit points restored when he transforms and Caith Sith healing skill available through Slots) and support department ( Cloud, Tifa, Vincent, Barret, Cid, Yuffie no character support skills. Red XIII can cast haste and raise stats, Caith Sith has status boosting skills available through slots) by that happening Aerith is not :)

As for the date I'm not sure which part of it you are referring to. Do you mean the part where she explains to Cloud that she knows there is a difference between Zack's personality and his, that the Zack part bothered her and that she wants to get to know the Cloud part better? Or the part when they come off the gondola where she asks if Cloud would like to go out with her again? ;) Or something else that doesn't have anything to do with the gondola events at all xD

What is sickening about any of that? :) Would it have sickened you if Tifa had told Cloud she loved him on the Cloud and Tifa date? ;)

Personally though I think I'm going to like Yuffie's the best out of the three girl dates and I'll probably find the Barret date amusing :D I've had the Tifa date and I liked it but I had less player choices during it than the Aerith date :(

Aerith was indeed irrational at times. So was Tifa such as at the time she rushed off into the mountains as a child and the time she tried to get revenge on Sephiroth. Both of which incidents ended up with her being badly hurt. Or the time that she left four year old Marlene alone in charge of the bar xD In real life people can get in trouble with the law for leaving little kids alone like that and I don't think that saying that you had to go help blow a place up would help matters xDD

Now I don't think less of Tifa for any of that :) Just acknowledging that those events exist. Just as I acknowledge the events where Aerith acts less well than she should have exist :) As well as being irrational at times I think both girls act insensitive at times such as Aerith with Barret the first time the party visits the Gold Saucer and Tifa with Red XIII in the Gold Saucer before the date event. Although in the Gold Saucer Aerith was trying to help but it didn't work and I can admit that. As for Tifa I don't think she was trying to be mean :)

Tifa was irrational out of anger and hatred. She had just witnessed the massacre of her family and friends, and wanted revenge. It was justified irrationality.

I remove Aerith from the back row as soon as I can *and* put her in Fury as soon as I can and still have no problems keeping her alive in battles during normal playthroughs. When I play FFVII Aerith dies no more or less than any of the other characters in battles. In fact she often takes less damage than other characters since she has higher defensive stats and nowadays she only dies in challenges that I'm inexperienced at playing. However the same can be said of Tifa who I'm currently having more trouble than Aerith with on a solo character game. Compared to the trouble I'm having with Tifa Aerith breezed through battles in solo mode.



As long as you keep her in the front row and don't mind her dying to some of the tougher bosses.

What tougher bosses? Again Aerith in my experience dies no more or less to them than the other characters. The disc one bosses can be push overs even the final boss of disc one too ;)


When she's only with you for part of one disc, four times is plenty.

Pfffffft :p There were many other events on disc one compared to those scenes ;)

I'm more rusty on storyline details than the abilities of the characters in battle but off hand asking Cloud for a flower, reminding Cloud of their promise, the Highwind events. Tifa did so show she had feelings for Cloud :p



Tifa was irrational out of anger and hatred. She had just witnessed the massacre of her family and friends, and wanted revenge. It was justified irrationality.

Yes Tifa's actions can be reasoned away and if someone was saying Tifa was the suckiest character ever because of those actions I myself would reason them away. However reasons can also be given for Aerith's actions. I'm not saying Tifa is a bad character by saying she can be irrational just saying that her irrationality exists.


Aeris, on the other hand, has no excuse, except for being a brat.

I wasn't able to say that you told me that you'd promised to protect me, to be my hero and that you now needed to keep that promise was I though ;) I believe it was a memory that was special to Tifa, a memory of where a boy had promised to be her hero. I used to not care for Vincent that much, but recently I started putting him in my party, and he's not that bad. You have to know what's going to happen once he transforms, though. You do not want to battle the Materia Keeper with Vincent if you did not have him get to lvl 2 (doesn't take long). He's great to have on Mt. Nibel, as most of his limits on lvl1 are very good if you haven't stopped to train your characters much. The one that does fire damage on all will end battles quickly, and his kill count will go up pretty fast so you can learn lvl2. If you have a lvl2 limit Vincent, he's nice to have in battle against the Materia Keeper, b/c then he won't heal the boss. Also, he does attacks automatically, so you don't have to worry. He also heals and gets more HP when you activate his limits. Oh, and you can put him in the back b/c his regular attack is long range. Oh, does that affect his physical limit attacks? Anyway, that's how I used him this last time I played. I also used him in Great Glacier just /c I wanted to use everybody some time in the game.

I also like Vincent's theme (Nightmare Beginning) and the scary way you meet him. To get him is kinda hard, not my favorite things to do in the game. The only thing I don't like about him is that his character was about as developed as a FFVI character, so it was kinda hard to get attached to him, like I am to the Midgar heroes.

I was also using Yuffie more often than I usually do. Her comic relief is interesting and refreshing if you've played through the game a couple times w/o looking at some of her dialogue and then looking at it.

I mentioned other stuff about Vincent, so let me add that about Yuffie, Aeris, and Tifa. I don't like Yuffie's themes that much. Tifa's theme is extremely boring. I am very tired of that scene where you first meet her, but that's probably b/c it's near the beginning. Aeris's theme is beautiful, though. Aerisunotema is a FF classic composition, in my opinion. Characterwise, I liked Aeris and Tifa. Both of them. Square sort of ruined Aeris's character by making that romance bishoujen, but Aeris per se is a beautiful character. So is Tifa. The Midgar heroes were the best in the game. Also, Yuffie was nice b/c she supplied comic relief, and there is a whole sidequest devoted to developing her character. So, Yuffie is more developed than a FFVI character, yay.

*cough* back on topic My favorite theme music was Yuffie's... unless I mixed it up. Boy I wish my PS worked right now then I could check. Her music just allows me to invision fun I guess... Cid's theme is also pretty cool... and his character is cool and fun as well.

However probably my favorite part that I've seen is the seen after Yuffie beats her father in that tower. some role model he is, no wonder she is the way she is :tongue: More Fun.

Vincent is one of my favorites as well... and I don't even mind his limits. However my playstation died on me when I was doing a playthrough with him... the first time through I didn't get him... now my playstation aint' goin'. :cry:

You know I really hate living in the middle of nowhere... Last I saw they were at least $50 just for the console and one controller... Also games around here are expensive... I should probably get a checking account or something so I can buy online.

Of course If I ever find my sony cd player that I have laying around I could try switching the laser eyes... Since that seems to be the problem. Wish playstations had a longer life span... such as the Super Nintendo but oh well can't have everything.
