Here there's a list of some of the favorite spells of final fantasy
series. Wich do you like most ?
I like ultima because of it's great power, but if I am it in FF8 I prefer Aura.
Anyway, wich do you think it's the most useul spell and why ?

FF VI: Vanish + Doom and Quick

FF V: Quick

FF VIII: Aura and Ultima. Ultima is needed for best stats of most junctions.

For obvious reasons, the most useful spell is Curaja.

My favorite however, is Meteor.

Any variations of cure. Without it you die :(

Curaga duh. It heals everyone then would come All-Life would be next.

There's an option called "other".

Anyway... in FFVIII Aura is by far the most useful spell in the game... but overall I have to say Full Life/ Life2. It's the most powerfull reviving magic (pheonix is a summon) and it's very powerfull in every FF.

Haste.

Good for fighters and mages alike.

Ultima.

Can't be blocked, can't be dodged, and does around the neighborhood of 9999 damage. (Except for Final Fantasy II, where the spell's virtually useless until you pump it up.)

Curaga or any other healing spell.

MERTON \o\
This one knocks off any other /o/
MERTON RLZ /o/

(To the uninformed: Merton = Meltdown. Merton is japanese name, and Meltdown the american one)

ROFLMAO!!!!

Merton = Ted Woolsey's accidental goofup of the name.

Meltdown = The name as it was meant.

In japanese version of game, Meltdown is Merton. But Merton ISN'T a japanese word. I know that >.<

One advantage Ultima has over Merton:

The caster and his allies aren't turned into smoldering piles of ashes when Ultima's cast.

I prefer status effect spells like Frog, Stop, Sleep, Paralyze, Chicken... So I voted 'Other'

I'm sure I love to cast cure/cura/curaga too. I don't want to use items, I'll sell them, rather.

I prefer status effect spells like Frog, Stop, Sleep, Paralyze, Chicken... So I voted 'Other'
Chicken?? :hyper: Wow, but I didn't see any chinken in FF. Or, you meant "Imp" in FFVI?? Chocobo, huh??

Chicken (or Foxbird or Threaten) are spells in FFTactics. They reduce the enemy to a cowardly, weak, scared chicken, who will run away and try to hide from you. I love to chase chickens! :exdee:

I think Curaga is the most useful spell...

Haste forever. Double the output of any character? Yes please!

Ultima is the best spell. DUH!

But I voted Haste. Because Haste is the coolest spell!
A fighter at heart, I prefer my warriors to do 9999 damage 2 times at the expense of a mage instead of having Ultima do it once and then my warrior at the expense of time and MP.

Outside of practical purposes, I don't know which is better. I still really like Haste. In reality, I guess it is more fun to cast Nuke on imps...

Bah! Haste, dang it! HASTE!

Aura and Full-Life... Aura is really precuious if u have Lionheart....

I voted for Curaga, but what I really mean is the whole restorative section of magic. Regen is very useful, especially the FFVII version where recovery is constant. Full Cure would be better if it targeted the whole party, but that might make it too cheap. I've just thought - wouldn't all magic be pretty useless without Osmose? Tents are expensive, Ethers are rare and visiting Inns in the middle of a dungeon is nigh on impossible.

I've beaten every FF at least once and I never use the osmoses spell. Meh...

rubah
01-03-2005, 10:46 PM
osmose (aspil) is good for those where you *have* to use magic.

the only one I can think of would be ff2. Aspil is a wonderful wonderful spell in that game.

Martyr

Yeah, in FF2, Aspil is spectacular.

Maybe a lot of people will disagree, but I found Osmose useful in FFIV too. Maybe I don't run from fights enough, but I certainly run out of my MP fast enough. o many enemies have MP in that game though, so Osmose continually supplied my casters. It would be a much harder game without that spell (Well, maybe not. The swords are as powerful as the spells, so magic isn't really necessary. But it is more fun. And if you want to have fun, you probably want to have Osmose!)

I find The End to be the most useful spell of times.

Flamethrower
01-04-2005, 12:53 AM
That's not a spell though, it's a Limit Break.

Same for Full Life.

theundeadhero

No, some FFs have a full life spell.

MomoPeaches
01-04-2005, 01:47 AM
Or Life2, which.. is the same thing.

Personally, I think the most useful is Cureag/ja.. I know it's saved my butt many a times. But if it's FFVIII, Aura is right up there. You can never go wrong with full-health limit breaks~

I forgot to put Auto Life on the list.

Any cure spell, I constantly keep my characters at high HP.

UltimaLimit

Ultima's my personal favorite, but I wish you could use it as well as Kuja's Ultima attack on FF9. It was a tad anticlimatic in FF7 and FF Tactics. But it's a cool attack spell, and tends to have a short animation (as opposed to some spells/summons that take too damn long).

On the defensive, probably the only healing spells I bother with late in the game are Regen and AutoLife, and possibly Phoenix if I'm in big trouble. For the rest I use items or simply kill everything (with Ultima) before I get too banged up.

Auto Life is the most useful. Nothing is more precious than life.

Haste, Curaga, and Auto-Life. It's pretty self-explanatory I assume.

Quick from FFVI is by far the best, you get two turns of attacking, and everyone else is stopped, guaranteed...

now equip a gem box, caste quick then osmose so you don't run out of MP, do some crazy attack, I prefer two cyan Quad Slices, you get a third turn instantly but everyone else starts again, quickly cast again, and repeat. As i have said before, beat the final boss, all forms, without getting hit.

My favorites really arent that great.

FFI: Curaja

FFII: Scourge

FFVIII: Demi

FFIX: Bio

FFX: Auto-Life

FFX-2: Stop (Breakdance)

1) Curaga
2) Full Life
3) Reflect

Llanowar

Quick from FFVI is hands down the best spell ever. It allows you to have unlimited attacks without ever getting hit as long as you have the gem box equipped I mean a combo like that is ABSOLUTELY UNBEATABLE making quick the best spell ever and it

ISNT EVEN LISTED!!!

Haste (all), Quick (FFV and FFVI), Auto-Life (or any variant), Aura (FFVIII), and Meltdown (FFVIII) all have their moments.

I used to find Regen to be quite useful

Face it Llanowar, time magic and time mages are always the most overlooked. A lot of useful white magic gets overlooked as well. People just want to be on the offensive sometimes. But status effects can SERIOUSLY tip the scales. Never underestimate them ^_^
