So what kind of car did you get when you turned 16?
What kind of car do you have now? I am so excited. My parents got me a 2001 saturn with 48,000 miles on it, no damage, and gently used. Its basically like a new car! Well... to me anyways. I'm only 15 but i turn 16 in 4 months. Post a picture if you have one!!

I bought, and still drive, my 79 Ford. I've put a few thousand dollers into it and much has changed but it's still basically the same. A few cars have come and gone in between but I've always had this.

ompompomp.

I *did* get a car for my sixteenth birthday a couple of weeks ago:D

V. pretty, phil^_^ *likes cars if they're pretty*
*is such a chick*

Anyways, I haven't taken any picture of mine yet (my digicam's batteries=dead) but it's a silver 2003 chevy cavalier. Got it from the wholesaler's lot, used. it had really reflective tinted windows, but they took that off, since it probably wasn't legal-_-

it's pretty and awesome and miles better than the other cars we have. (87 chevy pickup, 94 blazer, 95 chevy van of some sort, and a 97 chevy truck of some other size.)

yay chevy.

*will post pictures when she steals her mom's new camera*

Didn't get a car when I was 16. I'm 19 now, and still haven't ever had a car, and honestly, I don't want a car. In fact, if someone gave me one, I probably wouldn't accept it, or I'd sell it ASAP. Why? Because cars suck and I hate them. They're a world of trouble, they cause far more pollution than needed, they kill people constantly, and they cost a crapload of money, and then after you buy it, you always have to spend more money on gas(which is out of control and monopolized) and all the other fluids to keep it running, and insurance, and all the crap thats constantly breaking on them atleast every month.

But yeah...you know that walking thing people used to do...I do that. The day cars are built to last and are clean burning/no burning, then I'll think about getting one if the prices aren't insane.

I don't like people who get cars from their parents. Also, in many countries, you have to be 18 in order to get a drivers license. Saying 16 pretty much rules out half of the world. :]

Yep. Also, some countries(like Germany), it's far out of financial reach for young people, because it cost, literally, thousands of dollars to get one.

I really would rather have a nice metro system set up like other countries do rather than all the automobile crap, because now in some places (like where I am now), you need a car...which is why I'm unemployed.

Yeah, walking's all cool, except when you live ten miles from town. And I don't fancy walking *or* riding a bike uphill to my house.

A metro system is all well and good, except we don't have one. We barely have buses that go through.
Hence the cars.

(although I have been thinking about hang-gliding to school. like, seriously)

Mirage
01-01-2005, 06:02 AM
Wouldn't that require you to carry the hang glider all the way up to your house each day? :p

My car is a rusted out old piece of....garbage.

I inherited it from my grandmother when she died in 2002. Never did get it to start, again. (Like I could drive, anyway.)

I live over 30 miles from town and have absolutely NO metro system and not a single bus of any sort that comes through...what's your point?

my point is that I'm bad at walking. and that I don't want to have to get up for school two hours before the sun rises and get home when it's set.

I prefer to take Ian Malcolm's point of view sometimes-- that the earth is far older than us and can deal with more than we throw at her.

(That doesn't mean that I'm going to carve my initials in the ground with toxic waste though^^)

I WISH I COULD DRIVE!!! STUPID LAW! *Mumbles about how stupid the law is* I did drive my 'rent's Lumina *I think that's how you spell it* but ran into the mail box trying to get it into the drive way. That was my first *And probably last* time i'll EVER get to drive! Uh...oh well.

I have a Nissan Altima 96. I love the car, but I've spent $4000+ on the car on repairs, tires, oil changes, gas, etc. And I've had the car for 3.5 years.

But eh. I want to change the color to green instead of the blue-green, but eh. After I spent $5200 on my braces, I'll be lucky enough to pay off my tuition. $#@%!!!

My car was just donated :( It had 185,000 milage on it and breaks down when you go above 40 mph... but I miss it, and I miss having a car (though not like I used it since I'm at uni most of the time anyway >_o) .... *dies* Cars are SO convenient though! >o

Oh well... probably safer now that I am not on the road ^^

My car was my grandmothers, she gave it to me when she bought a new one, because it was worth next to nothing. It's a '92 bright red Nissan Sentra...it's pretty beat up, but I loves it, because it takes me where I want to go.

My car which is soooo cute it deserves a direct link. ^_^

It's my first car, I've been driving it for almost 2 years now. And I love it to bits. It had 12 previous owners before me =o So I don't wanna get rid of it, poor thing. Although I do want a campervan in the future. ^_^

I didn't get a car when I turned 16, simply because you don't get your driver's lisence until you're 18 here in Denmark...

Nice car, though.

I drove a '96 ford ranger from '99 till '03. It was a nice truck, but I didn't take care of it. In May of '03 I traded it in for this: *click1* *click2*. An '03 Ford Ranger. I love it.

The first ranger was my dad's. I bought it off him. This ranger is my own. My first big purchase after I got my current job. :p

I didn't start driving at 16...I waited to get my license until I turned 17 (due to me being lazy about taking drivers education/training)

My first car I bought for dirt cheap...a 1983 Honda civic...it died eventually.
My second car was a 1984 Honda accord (w00t) it has died...but we still have it.
My third and current car is a 1997 Saturn SL2 and I  it.

I bought all 3 of my cars (my parents paid for half of the second one)

I don't think that you could get anything new for under $15,000 Canadian, and that would be for something like a Chevy Cavalier, which is just your basic car.

Personally, I think that being able to drive at 16 is stupid, because I don't think anyone at the age of 16 is smart or mature enough to drive a car. The legal age should be 18 or 19 or even 20, but that's just me. Seeing these children driving cars....nevermind, it just really really bothers me :irked: . That aside

I agree. I have never had my own car, but my parents let me use theirs pretty much when ever I want, so I'm lucky that way. It's a 2003 Corolla LE, which is pretty nice, and they are gonna be buying a 2005 Mazda 6 sport really soon :D

I got my Blazer which had 130,000 miles on it :p and was a 1990 for $1000 since it was in good shape and 4x4. My truck I got really cheap $750 with low millage but I've done alot of work. (I've but maybe $3000 into it) and my saturn was $3500 and is a 1999. BUt I kind of traded my blazer for it and he got brand new tires out of it.

blazers are cool:D

[un]luckily car values depreciate rapidly. which means you can spend a lot less buying an 'almost new' car. even the ones only a year or two old are thousands of dollars cheaper in a lot of cases. New ones however are no lower than $12000, like whoever said such but in canadian currency:) Wait two years, however, and that practically halves@.@;

Yeah I'm scared to drive, myself. But it makes life so much simpler.

what you should be worried about are the people that *Aren't* 16 yet and get their hardship licenses to abuse them. Ie, they're supposed to drive them to school, but use them everywhere else.

(I will admit that my parents are awesome though.)

This reminds me of the red pontiac that's been sitting in front of this daycare for sale for like a year. It used to have a $1000 sign posted in the front window, but it's fallen off. I've only ever seen one person looking at it. Which is a pity, because it's really pretty when the sun is right:) otherwise it's dead ugly.

They also had a blue pontiac there next to it. It was there for about a week.

Nah it's a piece of crap right now.
