i never really noticed this but doesnt squall (leon) in kingdom hearts look exactly like laguna with brown hair?

i know this is probably because laguna is squall's father but still :D

I think that was the intention, although technically the characters in Kingdom Hearts aren't supposed to have anything to do with their Final Fantasy counterparts.

I think it's more of a case that Leon looks like Squall and Laguna looks like Squall. Use substitution (yay math) and you get Leon looks like Laguna.

This is not possible, Laguna sure as hell can't be Squalls dad???!!!!!
I mean, who is the mother, Raine? And the difference between Squall and Lagunas age, I mean come on... And if Julia is Squalls mother, I mean, http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gifhttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gifhttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gifhttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif!!! Cause then Squall and Rinoa would be like half siblings, -_-.... And if this still is true, when do you get to know this in the game?!??! (Would explain why both of them are extremly cute and good looking....)

SPOILERS aplenty.

This is not possible, Laguna sure as hell can't be Squalls dad???!!!!!

Sure he can. This is generally accepted as fact. There is considerably evidence to support this theory.

I mean, who is the mother, Raine?

Yes. Laguna and Raine, as you find out in the ending, were married. Squall ended up an orphan when Raine died and Laguna was away liberating Esthar from Adel's tyranny (and eventually becoming President, making it difficult for him to leave).

And the difference between Squall and Lagunas age, I mean come on...

That one's tough. The game manual states their ages as being ten years apart, but it could be a localization issue. It more likely has something to do with the aspect of time in FF8. My theory is that 27 is the age of Laguna during the time which he is a playable character (before Squall is born), while he would obviously be older by the time Squall meets him in person (Indeed, I always interpreted his appareance as middle-aged during the ending).

And if Julia is Squalls mother, I mean, http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gifhttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gifhttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gifhttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif!!! Cause then Squall and Rinoa would be like half siblings, -_-....

Julia is NOT Squall's mother. After their meeting in Deling City, Laguna and Julia went on with their lives. That's the end of it.

The game states that Julia's true love went off to war, and General Caraway comforted her. Julia and General Caraway are the parents of Rinoa. Laguna and Raine are the parents of Squall.

Let's write a program:

#include < SquallAndRinoa >

int main()
{
While (Rinoa = Julia && Rinoa = General Caraway && Squall = Laguna && Squall = Raine)
{
If (Laguna != Julia && General Caraway != Raine)
Squall != Rinoa;
}
Return 0;
}

and And if this still is true, when do you get to know this in the game?!??! (Would explain why both of them are extremly cute and good looking....)

One example off the top of my head is during Disk 4 in the Ragnarok, Kiros tells Squall "Good thing you don't look like your father" (which may have prompted a "..." from Laguna - I don't remember). This is obviously Kiros dogging on his old buddy's looks. That is the most blatant example I can think of.

The next time you play through the game, have it in your head that the above is true, and look for happenings throughout the course of the game that support the theory.

well the scenarios are apporx 10 years before the actual game

Oh man, why do people still insist on thinking Julia is Squall's mother? That would make Squall and Rinoa brother and sister, and that makes the whole game incestual and nasty. Yuk.

For the billionth time:

1. Laguna is a 27 year old soldier.
2. Laguna meets Julia.
3. Laguna goes off to war and isn't heard from again.
4. Julia is comforted by Gen. Caraway, marries him, and has Rinoa.
5. Laguna is taken in by Raine, they fall in love, and get married.
6. Raine gets pregnant with Squall, Ellone is taken, Laguna goes to rescue her.
7. While he's gone, Raine dies giving birth to Squall (This is stated in the game by Ellone). The Winhill people send Squall to an orphanage. They give him Raine's last name, Leonheart, because they didn't like Laguna.
8. Laguna becomes president of Esthar, sends Ellone home to Raine not realizing she's dead.
9. Winhill people ship Ellone of to same orphanage as her brother, Laguna continues rebuilding Esthar.
10. 17 YEARS LATER, Squall is 17, Ellone is probably about 22 or 23, and Laguna is IN HIS 40s!

This is all in the FF8 FAQ at the top of this forum as well. :)

Everything is explained in the thread Homer linked to. There are no questions about this, and this thread has diverged from its original topic.
