final fantasy XI is an online game but do you have to play it online or can it just be played like regular ff's?

You have to play it online. There is no way to play it offline.

Or just add it to the forum description: This is an MMO, you MUST play it online, if you do not have an internet connection, get one, and ps, how are you reading this?

EDIT: Although I can see where you might think this is an offline game, since the word "online" only appears 3 times in the description

besides, if it was an offline game, if you got chased my a monster (or aggroed) no one will be there to help you...
