Hey.
I was thinking the other day that advent children could be a fantastic movie. but on the other hand, it could be a complete disaster. it will be very hard for the producers/directors/writers etc to please such a large fan base of ffVII fanatics with a credible and yet commercial movie based around one of the greatest video games of all time.
this brought me to a thought... should movies that are made be remakes of the game? they would probably need to be CG or anime, because actors might not be able to pull that sort of thing off... but then again, with the right script and direction, you never know ;)
but, should movies based on final fantasy story lines (or any type of game for that matter... having the same thoughts about the prospect of a metal gear solid movie... )
i think it would be fantastic to go and see final fantasy all over again, just like when i played through the game for the first time, and live the journey once again, this time anew.
im playing through some of the earlier final fantasies atm, but i have played and finished VII - X quite a few times each. i would love to see them brought to life on the screen.
but, by the same token, these stories could be ruined! putting them on the big screen could ruin the experiance for fanatics and lovers alike.
thoughts...? comments...?

Personally I would rather see any movies be based on the game (or part of the game at least, since they could be pretty long) rather than something new like Advent Children. It would have to be done really well though to be good I guess. I agree that it would be great to see the games and characters brought to life through CG, or anime (I'd prefer CG). And see the story we know and love like that. I'd even like to see it with real actors although they'd have to pick people REALLY well. ^_^

But I'll wait and see what I think of Advent Children, maybe if they are going to make a film, it's better to come up with something new.

In my opinion the best way to go would be to make the movies but not put them out in theatres. That way they don't focus much on commecialism and it can stay more loyal to the fanbase following. Being so loyal, it would do well enough on on it's own to make a profit.

I liked how the first Resident Evil movie handled it. They did a side story that paralelled the first game as opposed to attempting to re-tell the same story. Apocalypse sucked though. That's kinda par for the course as far as Paul Anderson goes though. First movie, awesome. Second movie, unbelievably bad.

I think really my preferences is just that the movie is well done. That's all. I don't REALLY care if it's a faithful retelling or not, I just think it's more interesting to visit another side of the story.

It would be fun:) You can argue that ffx was already a movie, but there's still quite a bit that they could do (or redo.(like voice acting.(like yuna's.))) I wouldn't mind watching it:)

I think they would do well to be in theaters. I mean. If you're going to do some high quality rendering, I would definitely want to see it as large as possible to appreciate the sheer QUALITY.

and even if it was acted, I'd still want to show my support by watching it in theaters:) Most movies I don't watch at all, so to actually show up to see one is a show of my support:) (except for when I get forced into going out with my friends and nothing good is playing:P like with seabiscuit)
____________

Sometimes I try to visualize the way that things would be set up moviewise. I can't really think of any specific examples off hand, but I don't think I'm imagining this:) anyways, if any of those forgotten examples happen to be pertaining to final fantasy, it would be nice to remember them and see if what I imagined was anything like someone doing it professionally would see it:)

(that and I think squall would have a very nice voice I would enjoy listening to for 120 minutes of a ff8 movie)
