That is impossible. How can monsters breath in space?
Monsters would take up to 3 days to get to earth.Maybe more (they donīt fall like a jet,of course).
Upon contact with the atmosphere they would die imediately.

Yes... physics... the...obvious problem with the whole scenario...

True - just chaulk it up to another FF8 plothole. I guess the only way the writers could talk their way out of it is that the Lunary Cry is caused by the Lunatic Pandora, which seems to emit some beam of energy which the monsters travel along - either through technology or magic, its hard to say, which could cause physics as we understand them not to apply.
Also, I think the moon in FF8 is a LOT closer to the planet then Earth's, espeically given how large it looks on the surface of the planet in all the FMVs, so it might take a lot less time to transverse the distance then 3 days. Whether it could still be done in a few minutes is debateable, but potentially shorter than days. :)

:rolleyes2
FF1 - Time travel - Hey, that's impossible!
FF5 - Travelling from one world to another inside a meteor - No way!
FF6 - Sleeping for one whole year - Rediculous!
FF7 - A TALKING CAT!!!
FF9 - Using mist (!) as fuel for airships. - That won't work!
tbc.

These are pretty tough monsters here.
I mean, they live on the moon, they've got to be pretty well armored to keep space from sucking them out (unless the moon has an atmosphere, completely possible)
And then, their tough armor disintegrates when they go through the atmosphere, making them weak enemies:)
Anyways, breathing isn't a necessary requirement for life. That would be the following:
1) Ability to maintain homeostasis (keeping a stable internal environment)
2) Ability to reproduce(cute little baby monsters!)
3) Have cells
4) Have organization (organelle->cell->tissue->organ->organ system->organism)
5) Use energy
6) Grow
There's nothing about breathing there, you'll see. We only breathe because we need the oxygen to like bind to stuff to make energy and stuff. We only exhale because we don't do much with carbon dioxide:)
Perhaps the monsters need some element they merely absorb off the moon's surface. Their body chemistry is possibly completely different from ours. Then they wouldn't need to breathe. And as long as they could keep their bodies sealed from the vacuum, much as rockets and space shuttles have to be (and as we learn from futurama, this doesn't have to be very much:D "How many atmospheres can *this* ship withstand?" "Weelll, Fry, it is a space!ship, so. . . Zero.")
And those monsters were going pretty quickly to the planet. I mean, for monsters.

So,explain to me how the monsters disperse in the sky upon entering atmosphere. Is it a force field from tears point?
Maybe these events make sense, but it doesnīt mean there were not other possible explanations.
What if the Lunar Cry phenomena relates to time compression? What if there is no moon, but another completely different era there? Maybe Ultiīs time (looks desert).
In Ultiīs Castle we see near all the monsters from the game.
Maybe she is using the crystal pillar on her era.
She then performs the cry to send monsters to other eras.
In the same way Squall & company falls from the Pandora in Time Compression and land near Ultiīs Castle .I believe this is Esthar Sorceress Memorial on the past(The Pandora moved while they fall).
Maybe the pandora moves in the opposite direction of his previous movement(which passes over the Memorial).

...common people!!!! ...when did U stop beliving in magic???? ...some things can't be explained...and need not to be!!!...those R the things that dreams R made of...don't try to explane them, don't destroy the last realm of magic...leave them be...

Ah, I'd agree with you, but
this is a videogame. Totally conceived of by people:) but within the game, sure magic paramagic, crystal power:D (or the lack thereof)
future esthar, I think you're just a liiiiiittle too obsessed with time compression:)

...all those monsters have magical poers,or para-magical(...whatever...),maybe they have some spell that creates air...but,they never used it on U so u never learned about it's existance...
...I'm not making much sence,m I?

I'm sure there was an explanation, but the developers junctioned with too many GFs and forgot it.

Well monsters arent really human. Maybe they dont need to breathe?

We're talking a MOON here- hundreds of degrees in the sun, cold enough to freeze amonia in the shade.... it's actually safer to BE in dead space. In space, heat can't escape your body- it needs a surface to conduct through. Just like you can safely sit in a car with a live power line laying on it- the rubber tires prevent a complete cicuit. Try stepping out of the vehicle, and you'll get yourself killed. Anything capable of living on a moon probably absorbs solar energy (like plants) and, although they'd need oxygen, they could recycle their own.
Such a creature, as long as it didn't accelerate *too* much before hitting earth's atmosphere, would survive the decent. And even if the first wave didn't, they'd create a 'blast shield' of sorts that would allow the monsters behind them to survive. Also, for all we know, they carry eggs inside them that hatch when they die, eating their way out of the parent. You can step on a cockroach, and it's eggs will stick to the bottom of your shoe only to be tracked around where you walk for a couple days, and hatch in a week or two. Of all the things to nit-pick, you chose the only one that can be explained logically.

I think if you are able to Summon Gods & fly about in a massive School, the artistic Lisence has already been set in stone, so why question monsters 'falling' from the moon? They infact are brought to the earth by the Pillar.

Well, while I think that the monsters would be able to survive in space and survive rentry, I did think of something when I saw the Lunar Cry FMVs again yesterday. We see the big column of monsters, but what are those globs of purple/red gunk floating around outside it? More monsters? If so, then I have no problem at all with believing that monsters could survive rentry. If each of those blobs is actually a few hundred monsters, then the sheer total number of monsters out there would guarantee that many would make it through the atmosphere, even if the first layer was destroyed by the heat of friction. If they aren't monsters, then it would seem that the monsters have found some sort of substance which they use as a shield against space/rentry. Also, don't forget that they didn't drop until the Lunatic Pandora showed up. It could have some force-field like effect on the monsters, allowing them to come down safely. Of course, this is all speculation, but just thought I'd point a few things out.

reading 2 much into it I mean this is a world where people use MAGIC I could read into that 2 seeing as people cant use the elements 2 defeat a floating fire creature etc IT'S A GAME OK

Didnt they fall in huge clumped amounts? The ones on the outside would die of but the majority inside would be able to breal through the atmosphere and into earth.

Dur. Isn't it obvious? They were kept alive by Space Bats. Man you people are thick.
