I can shoot myself. I have gone to Ispen Castle and my characters get murdered by the enemy's there. Does anyone know what level I need to be there. Zidane is at 2000+ HP and Garnet is beneath the 900 HP. What do I need to do now? At the moment I am walking around at the place with that Moogle. And I hope to level up. But that stupid guy with his Gargoyle keeps showing up and kills me.

Ipsens Castle?

You may want to try equiping the lowest level weapons you can (Not other items though.) The reason being that in Ipsens Castle Strong weapons are weak and the weakest Weapons are the strongest.

I remember seeing a moogle a little farther in selling some low level items (Second lowest, I think...) so buy some cheap ones off him and slaughter everything. ^^

Yeah that's right..otherwise you may have to use a player who can cast strong spells..

Summary: In Ipsen's Castle everything is topsy-turvy. You want to use WEAK weapons and STRONG armour. Use STRONG magic as this is not affected. All the encounters are pretty easy if you are protected against Petrify. The only thing you have to watch out for is the Tonberrys as they come in groups of 1-4 and can K.O. a party member in one move.

I beat FF9, and I never knew about that. I feel stupid.

I may as well contribute to the tip giving.

There is a pair of enemies that you often encounter in Ipsen's Castle. The pair consists of a gargoyle and something else the name of which I forget. The gargoyle can be killed before coming to life by using a Soft. Alternatively, concentrate your efforts on the other [nameless] enemy. When he's gone, the gargoyle automatically goes with him if he's still in a Petrified state.

Ah, that's what it was! It was on the tip of my tongue, and I was about to go look it up, but you've effectively saved me some time. Thanks, dude.

Vivi + initial weapons + running from Tonberrys = success

Has anyone ever managed to kill a Tonberry? I took the hint after he knifed 2-3 of my guys and ran.

I just remembered.

The friendly creatures you're thinking of share names with their not-so-friendly counterparts, but the Ragtime Mouse is not a part of the friendly creature quest. He's the quiz host that randomly appears during battles every now and then, and asks you True or False/ A or B quiz questions.

If you don't feel like rebuying weaker weapons, you should be able to find some within the first ten minutes you spend at Ipsens.

I never noticed that the weakest weapons are the strongest, surrvived without problems anyway, and yes, tonberries are easy to defeat, as long as you've got Zidane in your party, he sure as hell can kick @ss! And no, you're not stuck there forever, start by beating some of the low level monsters (escape from others) and as your level grow the easier it'll get. And as SePho_zO says, you'll find some weapons while searching the castle. Good luck!

Another thing to note is that every enemy in Ipsen's Castle except Tonberries and Gargoyles can be afflicted by Freeze (or Quina's Frost spell, and as said earlier, Gargoyles are easily killed with a Soft). So in short, either have Quina with the Frost spell or Steiner with the Ice Brand sword + Add Status and give them as high a Spirit as possible. Freeze + any physical attack with kill a monster instantly.

Just bring in magic users and don't bother with physical attacks.
