i think that weapons should of been introduced in the game here are some ideas
magical microphone allowes to learn sleepy shufle and increases dance time by 5%
gold sword (dark night) teaches demi wait time down by 2%

2 and 5% increases? It doesn't seem worth the effort. Anyway, due to the nature of the DS system and the in-battle changes the presence of weapons would greatly confuse things.
