I've worked in a lot of business environments in which many of the computers are given names. A lot of my friends have also named their computers.

So, have any of you given your computer(s) a name?

I find naming inanimate objects that bear no resemblance to things that would normally carry a name shouldn't have humanity or personality forced upon them.

That and I don't think it has enough free RAM for a name, it might make it crash.

I've named every computer I've used for the last few years, because some web server software utilizes the computer name when serving pages.

The last one I used was named Loki, but this one's name is Ezekiel.

At school, all the Engineering Lab computers and printers are named after Star Wars characters, all the Physics ones are named after physicists, and all the general use ones are named after dogs (Clifford, Lassie, Odie, etc.) That's all I can think of. I don't have a name for my own personal computer.

My PC is named Wintermute, my grandfather's is named Hannibal, and my router is named BaseOne (points++ if you know where that came from)

Disk partitions are named Gaspar, Balthasar, Melchior, Despard, Garudin, Gendibal, and Barjazid.

Current laptop is named SYS-Bebop, C drive designated Chisa. Previous computer that I left back in Arizona was SYS-Vicious, with drives Lain, Alice, and Tobe.
