I received the first part of Azumanga Daioh the Animation a week ago. I know there are several fans on here so i,d just like to ask a few questions.

Currently i,m unsure on my opinions of it.I had to watch the dub first because i was with my friend who hates reading. So the sour taste of a below average Adv films dub really created a bad impression.

When i watched the japanese version it went up alot. It was very funny without being over bearing, and i never knew the mundanity of normal life could be so fun.

But ultimately the lack of plot or anything other then *normal* (relatively) happening means i,m not sure i should get the rest. On the merits of the first volume, i would not buy the rest as it would be far too expensive for me. As an episode a day on tv thing (as it originally was in Japan) it would be great, but not to spend so much money on.

Would any fans be able to tell me whether they think i,d like the rest of the seris based on my thoughts of the Ist? i,m a huge character development guy, so if that goes on through the seris then that might sway me. Maybe its just not my thing, but i just can,t agree so far with all 5 star ratings.

Oh, first off, the first volume is just merely an introduction to the characters. However, I really enjoy the series as a whole. Especially when Osaka does her thing. xD

Anyway, I think you shouldn't base an anime just off the first few episodes. It gets a lot better further into the series, as the students get farther into high school life. It seems that it takes two volumes to get from one grade to another, as it seems to go quite fast in terms of time, but it's very enjoyable as a whole. Yes, I will agree that it's better subbed, because when it's dubbed, a lot is butchered, because Miss Yukari is an English teacher, not a "Language" teacher in the dubbed versions. Just hearing her speak English in the subbed version is great. :D You should watch it all the way through, it's not as great as Evangelion is to you, but it's really enjoyable, and it does have it's great moments.

Edit: Also, it's WAY better than Excel Saga. So that's something to look forward to. ;)

lol. yeah i knew not to judge it. i,m just wary because i was very prepared to fork out so much money on Excel Saga...then i watched it on Tv, and i,m glad of my escape.

I normally buy a first Dvd as a feeler...to try and judge whether i should get the rest. This time though it has me torn.

Ok i,ve decided i will save up my spare cash and buy volumes on the side from my main anime list.

P.S- who is your fav girl? I like Osaka alot, espically team seaslug mode :) , but Sakaki-San is probably my fav.
