You know, considering I live on the South Coast of England, with all it's chalky cliffs, you wouldn't have thought it would be so bloody hard to find some chalk. I recently purchased a dartboard with a cabinet that you can keep scores on, so I went out in search of some chalk in the town centre. I tried half a dozen stationers and spent over an hour looking for something I eventually found, not white however, multicoloured, and it cost me 25p. I couldn't believe the trouble I had to go to in order to find it. Seriously in Southampton, I could find a hooker faster than I could find some chalk!!!!!

So has anyone else had difficulty finding chalk? Or anything else that you considered to widely available before you realised you needed it?

There are times I am very happy to be an American. This is one of them. I can name at least 5 places in town off the top of my head that I am SURE have chalk for sale.

The real question, though, is do they have staples?

Ahaha, I crack myself up.

Ok, sorry.

I'd be worried if they didn't.

I have a piece of chalk in my car. I don't know where it came from.

I once had difficulty locating an Atlas. I've got one now, though.

Ha, no I didn't check the ground but then Southampton is concrete heaven so I probably wouldn't have found any there.

Where they sell school/office supplies, they are bound to have chalk here. I'd just have to cross the street and I could buy chalk if I needed.

Go into a school and steal some. Tell them you need it to stop racism. If they object, you can scream "RACIST!" at them and they'll have to do whatever you command. :)

chalk is simple to get. just take some Ca2+ and combine it with some CO32-. there ya go.

i believe correct me if i'm wrong but it's easier to find chalk then it is to find calcium and carbonate.

WHAT IF I DO? >:O I think I will forget just to spite you, Czechie.

you could like mix some CaCl2 with ZnCO3 and harness the Calcium and Carbonate ions as they were changing. Maybe if you were MAGICAL.
