Help! I'm trying to run FF7 in Windows 2000 and don't seem to be having any luck. The game installs fine and all the hardware is compatible, but it crashes during the first battle. Anyone know of any patches or tricks to get it to run right?

Thanks.

Errm... at the risk of sounding obtuse, I can't seem to find it. Closest I can find is the XP patch, but, where I'm running Windows 2000, that's not what I'm looking for, is it?

Thanks,

You could always try the XP patch. The worse that could happen is you would be no better off than when you started. There is a moderate chance the XP patch also works in 2000.

If that fails you could always try square-enix's official site...

Neither Square-Enix nor Eidos are any help, I'm afraid. It's been so long now that they no longer support the game, officially. Anyway, I found a way to ensure compatibility on ffseven.com. It's a little convoluted, but it seems to work.
