"I Hate This, I Hate That, I Hate Everything..."

Everyone seems to hate things these days. I read a lot of posts here at EoFF that contain "I" and "Hate" in rapid succession. I also hear a lot of people offline saying "I Hate This" and "I Hate That".

It's so darned negative, but everybody seems to hate absolutely everything. Is it just England that has turned into a cess-pool of depression and negativity, or are people in other countries equally peeved with everything that comes into contact with their lives?

Well...?

People often use 'hate' to describe anything they dislike, no matter how small the irritation might be. For example, 'I hate Pop-Up Ads' is a huge exaggeration, since for most people they're little more than a slight irritation.

People often do the same with 'love', using it to describe things that they merely enjoy. At least this balances things out, with an equal amount of hate and love in the world.

Negativity like that does bug me, because in my opinion if people don't like something they should avoid it/not waste energy complaining about it. However, I'm pretty used to it now, so I don't care too much. Hehe.

As for love, you can never have too much love! Love should be used to describe everything. Lindy = love, Red Dwarf = love, pandas = love, Rainecloud = love =D

I think everyone is, in reality, just mad at their parents and we'll all grow out of it in time.

I hate people who always go around saying, "Man, I hate ___!" when they merely dislike it.

And BTW, England is not alone.

I don't notice the hate thing so much, I guess I'm desensitized already ;)

I'm one fo those people that likes to exagerrate my feelings greatly like that. I'll say I hate someone/something, when, of course, the feeling isn't that strong. It's jyst easier to say that. Or something.

But yes, I've noticed. But I think it's people there are lots of people who do the same thing as I do.

I tell people in Halo 2 online that I love them, and they tell me how much they hate me. It may be because of the shotgun though. People don't like long black things exploding in their faces. Unless they're kinky.

Actually, I think 'emo' is a growing trend. Emo people are angry at the world because they wear itchy scarfs.

Focusing on the negative is a bummer, but you got to let it all out somehow. Nitpicking is just annoying, though.

The general mood these days seems a bit down. That and "hate" is used as a very versitile word these days.

I love everyone.

I notice a lot with anything entertainment. If a movie or song gets somewhat popular suddenly there's nothing better to do than hate it. I get the impression that a lot of kids these days are afraid of what they might look like if they actually said they liked something. :p

People just like to exaggerate so much, they use "love" and "hate" to describe ANYTHING. Could be the parents, could be school, whatever.

:D I LOVE ME! :D

Just like its common for people to call something "gay" if it annoys them, i think in the exact same fashion people simply use "hate" to describe something that irritates them. Although some people are overly negative about things, i think the liberal use of "hate" nowadays doesn't really mean people are getting depressed. I read somewhere that apparently using babyish synonyms like "peeved" makes someone feel less negative than if they say "OH I AM SO     ING ANNOYED!"

Maybe it's an intelligence issue rather than becoming desensitized. After all, "hate" is easier to spell than "dislike". (Not by much, but some people...) I hate dumb people... :p

Hate is overused. That's why its meaning is almost negligible. Don't even consider people who throw around the word.

Can hate be good? Can hate be great? Can hate be good, can hate be great, can hate be something we don't hate?

Don't you guys watch TV? Hate is a good thing!

It's just a car ad about how since people hate that diesel engines are so noisy and dirty, the car manufacturer made quieter, cleaner diesel engines. :p But whenever I see something that has 'Hate' as a topic, I always think of that ad and it's little jingle.

Too much effort to hate things or people I dislike, that would involve taking time to think about them, which totally defeats the purpose of not liking them in the first place.
