I've just bought the tickets to my very first 'proper' concert. A few friends and I are travelling to Brixton Academy to see Interpol, and it's a pretty exciting prospect. I've been into music for a while, but never taken the initiative and gone to see a band live. Anyway, it should be a memorable occasion, and it's one we're all looking forward to.

So, what was your first gig, and how was the experience?

First real concert ever was Sonic Youth, Paris, the Olympia, July 8th, 1998. It also was one of the best I've been to, and incidentally, that's the night we beat Croatia in semifinals of the 1998 soccer World Cup, which resulted in hundreds of thousands of people (I'm not kidding) flooding the streets just when the concert ended, which was somewhat "fun" for my mum to drive through when she came to pick us up and drive us (my bother, a cousin and I) back home. I think it's the first (and last) time I saw people hovering a French flag over my car while we were trying to slowly go far from the crowded streets.

Punk rock show for 5 bux that went to charity for Medicins sans Froentiers to battle malaria.

Local bands playing, no one here has heard of them probably. Von Zippers? The Falling Piano's? Amazing Larry's?Yeah, didn't think so.

*raises hand* I've heard of the Von Zippers.

I've never been to a big show, just local stuff, and I've been going to those since I was a kid.

My first concert was with Pearl Jam a few years ago when they came over to Australia. Since then I've been to a fair few. -Xavier Rudd, Carus, John Butler Trio, Missy Higgins, The Living End, etc. I've missed out on heaps of cool bands because I'm not over 18 yet, to get in. =\

My first concert was a David Bowie show when I was pretty young, I don't even fully remember it. Going to concerts are one of my favorite things in the world, that's awesome that you're going to see Interpol, I'm sure it will be a great show, have fun!

I've never been to a concert, only festivals. First one was V98 at Temple Newsham, Leeds. Then I went to the Leeds Festival for the whole weekend in '99, 2000 and 2001.

There is this local concert place that is usually packed tht i go to in Leicester. Stadium-wise, I've never gone, but I've never wanted to go. Semi-little places are good, and I think (with any luck) I'll go Reading this year. But the first proper (not my friends in their back-garden) was Gonga last year in May. Incidentaly, i'm going tonight to see The Others. See you later!

I guess the first real concert I went to was NoFX and Rancid a few years ago. I saw the Beach Boys when I was a kid, but that was just at a festival.

I've been to a few smaller shows, but I don't really feel comfortable in very loud, cramped places. I can only stand to go to those places with my friend Brandy because then we just speak in sign language and it's fine. I think something about having communication cut off freaks me out.

I like to go to my boyfriend's band's shows though. There's nothing like seeing him pounding those drums. Mmmm...

My first concert was Holiday Havoc, where I saw, Korn, The Used, My chemical romance, and Magni-fi all at once. It was the best I've ever been to!

The first concert I can recall going to was a Paul Simon concert right after he'd returned from South Africa in 1990. The musicians that came and played, the culture that filled the stage, and the pure joy of the music itself are all parts of a memory I'll cherish forever.

Take care all.

My first concert was Korn/Stain back when I was a small time Korn fan back in 2001. My last concert was Vans Warped tour. I went to see Anti-Flag, Flogging Molly, and The Casualtys. Most of the bands there were whiney emo crap, but some were okay.
