im already in disk 3. with the ragnarok, so where's the best place to level up without getting slaughtered? i tried fighting at the 2 closest islands but thats a little out there for me at the moment, im like at level 40

EDIT: Don't double post. Have some patience, it takes longer than 5 minutes to get a response. -Murder

Island closest to hell would be an obvious choice... But deep sea research center is better for that level...

i recommend Island Closest to Heaven over Hell :D . there's much stronger monsters on the isle of Hell ;) .

Heaven is much easier.

Of course a lot of people just get quistis' degenerator and go through Island Closest to Hell like crazy.

I prefer to get three people up to level 100 with stat+ abilities then take the last three one at a time to island closest to hell and do it the less-quick way:)

In just about every playthrough, I've levelled from around 60-70 all the way to 100 fighting just Vysage trios (Vysage, Righty, Lefty). They give you 800 - 1100 experience a fight and it's a less monotonous process than most levelling up sessions.

Hell is not that bad, you just gotta have the Ribbon-ability.

Experience levels aren't as important as how efficiently your party is junctioned, so if your friend seemed week at level 100, that person needs to work on junctioning stronger magic to his/her stats (and higher quantities of it).

I just started a new game yesterday. My Squall (by himself still) hasn't left for the SeeD exam yet, but he's at level 31 and has a full stock of all three levels of Cure, Fire, Thunder, and Blizzard magic, Meltdown, Water, Slow, Stop, Berserk, Silence, Sleep and more. He has about 3500 HP and averages 1000 damage per attack. The Junction system can be a wonderful thing if you know how to use it.

That reminds me.

I fought at Hell until all my chars were level 100.... just for fun, actually :)

while the isle of Heaven is easier, there are better magic on the isle of Hell  . i'd just equip the EncNone ability and walk around from one area to another to collect more magic... :p

And not gain a single level in the process, not to mention ruining your SeeD ranking.

Levelling up is a complete waste of time, seeing as how the monsters level up with you and your stats can be godlike with just the junction system.

i don't think it's a waste  . all you have to do is like get 999 exp to gain a new level ;) . it's fun and it's easy  . it lacks putting in more time to train, but i have no prob with it :D .

Don't forget that the stat bonus abilities let you use level ups to save the really good junctions/abilities for better stats. At level one, you'll be hard pressed to get 255 on any stat or 9999 on HP without using a Stat +% ability or junctioning Ultima to that stat. And, as I've said in the tips and tricks thread, I think that that is a waste of a really good junction.

Personally, I always have 3 level 50+ characters (Squall, Quistis, and Rinoa) by the end of Disc 2, so I don't wind up with the problem of not having a place to level up much.

Umm when I was in level 40, I fight the monsters in Shumi village area with snow lions. They give good items and exp as well. Or Chimera in Kashabald Desert.

I don't think you could face Malboro in Island close to Heaven with that state yet.

I let Squall be leval 20~30 but not above that. To do this you must learn GF Quezacotl's Card command. It turns monsters to cards, doesn't give you Exp but gives you more AP. thus GF abilities are learned first. I did it to Fastitocalon-F's near Balamb Garden. It's quite tedious though, I don't recommend it to impatient people. Then later in Disc two, try learning the Stat Bonus junction abilities, e.g. Str Bonus, Mag Bonus, etc. they give your characters a permanent boost by one point. BTW, if you want items such as HP Up, Str Up, Vit Up, etc, you would have to get GF Carbuncle, Tonberry, and Doomtrain. I managed to get Tonberry at Disc 2 cuz I want to have his Lvl Up/Down Command, it helps me lvl up faster or slower. When you're main characters are at least 50 and you are still in Disc 2, try going to Cetra Continent, in the forests near Kashkabald dessert. There are Ruby Dragons there that randomly appear. Once you are in Disc 3, I recommend leveling up in the two Islands. If you like the Challenge then go to Island closest to Heaven provided you have Pain, Sleep, Confuse, Berserk Magic junctioned to your Status Def. Don't say I didn't warn you... :magus:

my method of leveling up is a cop out in a way, but what i did was when i had odin was go to the island closest to hell and as soon as the battle starts have my fingers on the escape shoulder buttons. every so often odin shows up and kills the creature, gets you to level 100 easy peasy lemon squeezy pie!!!!!!

I find it a lot easier just to fight the monsters.

not to mention a LOT quicker.

during your invasion of Galbadia Garden the ice rink monsters give quite a lot of EXP. Like 700 or something like that.
