I've just got to the top of Mt. Gagazet and now I'm facing the Sanctuary Keeper. I've got a few problems though, I only have 3 Hi-Potions, 9 Phoenix Downs, and I haven't got any Holy Waters to cure Curse. Has anyone got any tips on how to beat it, and where to get some more items without going half way down Gagazet again?

For Holy Waters, you are out of luck. Except for buying them, you can only get them by stealing from the large mechs in Zanarkand and Bevelle. I'd recommend going back into the caves and hunting there for the other items on your list.

The various Mechs (the ones that collapse when stolen from) can give you lots of different types of potions as well as Phoenix Down/Mega Phoenix when destroyed, and you can steal Mega Potions from the Grendels.

[Edit] As for actually killing it, make sure that at least one character has the Dispel ability. Also, apparently it isn't immune to Threaten, so you can leave it pinned there while you beat it up.

I have got the Dispel ability, but how will using it affect the keeper?

It is important because, IIRC, the Sanctuary Keeper casts Regen on itself after a while. If that does happen, you want to be able to stop it regenerating ASAP.

OK, I'll try it now.

Rubedo: Don't forget to use Aeons for all they are worth!

Albedo: *Laughs maniacally* That is really all the advice we have right now.

Curse stops you from using your overdrive attacks.
Thankyou for the advice.

Also charge all your Aeon's overdrives, use them once for their attacks, and then let them get killed. That's always a nice tactic. And ofcourse, charge all your character's overdrives too.

That's one thing that I normally do, but can't be bothered. I suppose I'm gonna have to. Thankyou.

Emily52

Yeah, but I've got the Celsestial Weapon that makes Bahamut overdrive do Break Damage Limit, so it's worth it.
I ALMOST beat it. It had 3000+ HP left and then, the next round i went to hit it it magically had 25000+ HP again! :grumble:

does curse affect them! well just ignore the overdrives and just attack it (plus its a bit early 2 say this but make sure yuna gets holy cos in the end (they r in it earlyer) u have 2 kill evil forms of the aeons and holy takes loads of damage off)

Can you now help with the Spectral Keeper?

alexholker

The Spectral Keeper is the one where you move from glyph to glyph, isn't it? The easiest way I found to defeat it is this:

Find out which character has the highest defense and HP, and make sure they have Provoke (probably Auron).
Give him a Berzerkproof armour (optional, but it helps).
Haste everyone, and put your bulletcatcher at least one glyph away from the others, and make him use Provoke (essential). Cast Protect on him if possible.
Wait until it is facing away from the other two characters, then start beating up the Keeper, moving only when neccessary to avoid glyph mines, and healing the bulletcatcher when neccessary.

Bulletcatcher?

Incidentally, Bahamut *COMES* with break damage ability. Go figure.

Spectral Keeper is a. . . really. . really. . . EVIL thing.

Have fun with the next boss after him though. phew.

If you have two light curtains, have rikku mix them up immediately. That's the limit of my wisdom at the moment.

Because every time you attack the Keeper, it attacks all the glyphs in front of it. Rather than avoiding the counterattacks all the time, I found it easier to just have one person taking all the hits (the 'bulletcatcher', and why they use Provoke), and have the others attack or heal as the need arises. The 'bulletcatcher's role is to stand there getting attacked all the time, either using sentinal, attacking or defending on his own turns.

with me every now and then i used a weak aeon to attack a little bit. move when he places a glyph mine!

alexholker

The problem with using an Aeon is that when you dismiss the Aeon, the next time the Keeper counterattacks, it will turn towards your characters before counterattacking, which defeats the purpose of the Provoking character.

I Don't Need A Name
01-30-2005, 05:31 PM
yea but if u use a weak aeon (valefor) then u let it use glyph mine on them so they die and he dosent counter attack
